Title: Davy SCU30 oil question
Post by: MisterStyx on January 21, 2019, 06:22:34 PM
I was gifted a compressor for Christmas this year and I'm just getting around to playing with it.  The note included on it says I need to add Mobil 827/829, ISO100/150, or SAE40/50.

Does this mean I can use any 40 or 50 weight oil in it, or should I be ordering the Mobil 827 or 829?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I know nothing about compressors.  I went to the local Home Depot and their compressor oil was not what was recommended at all.

Ryan, personally I'd recommend a quality compressor oil that is meant for HPA. Others have said they use just a synthetic compressor oil with no issues.

I've been using Ultrachem Chemlube 501 without any issues. It was designed for high pressure compressors and is the correct viscosity. It is a little expensive but a gallon should last you a long time.

What part of Houston are you in?

Are any of these high pressure compressor oils sold locally or should they be ordered?

I'm up in Porter, a little past Kingwood.  Good to know there are other airgun folks in Houston.

Not sure if you can find chemlube locally or not. I ordered mine off eBay. You should be able to find a synthetic oil at home depot or lowes according to others.

Very cool, im off 1960 and 45.
