Bob/Wayne and Guys
Can someone help me out, as I am confused again.......
I am attempting to find out some info, from the NOE site, and the orders I placed.
I ordered this mold 217-24-RF-CC2 4 cavity RF HB Magnum Hunter Pellet, What is the material of this mold?
I ordered this mold 217-20-RF-CE6 4 cavity HB Hunter pellet, What is the material of this mold?
Today, I received this mold,
This mold is the 22-217-24-RF (printed on the mold) in Alum.

Don

This is the one that I ordered for the brass in the 20 grain. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?products_id=5564 (http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?products_id=5564)

Here's the 24 grain 2 cavity that I got, NOE doesn't have them listed anymore though.

The brass molds are indicated as being brass in the price list.... If it doesn't say brass on the description, it's aluminum....

Looks like all the brass ones sold out, I noticed they don't show the available "0" like they were, they use to show all the molds even after they sold out.
The NOE logo is different on the last one I got too, it's not the old fancy NOE logo ???
-
Yeah, I noticed that molds that are sold out no longer appear in the price list....

Thanks Guys
That is the problem, I am attempting to figure out,
since the molds are sold out, they no longer show what material they are made of.
On my original order for the Mag Hunter mold, I ordered this:
217-24-RF-CC2 4 cavity RF HB Magnum Hunter Pellet,
I cannot tell what is mold is made from.
Wayne
This last mold (Mag Hunter) I just received does NOT have any sticker on the box, or any other info..
The Hunter mold = 217-20-RF-CE6-4 cav HB, was on my alum mold, I received.
Thanks,
Don

In ref to new NOE logo,
the last one I just received has the Target/cross hair and 3 bullet impact inside the circle,
which matches the first 20 gr pellet mold,I have.
What does the new logo, look like?
Thank you,
Don

Here's a pic of the 217-20-RF mold, I think that all my other NOE molds have the other kind.

Thanks for the photo of the different NOE Brands, both of the molds I have look like the first photo,
so these must be the new style etc.

Upon checking this new mold, 217-24-RF-CC2 4 cavity RF HB Magnum Hunter Pellet,
I just received on the 14/2019, it has the same problem as the first mold,
it has 2 burrs on the cut off sprue plate holes, I have to polish them down, before I can use it. :(
Back to the shop.......

I'll bet a hone stone (BIG one) would do the trick!
-
Don when you get the Magnum Hunters cast you won't believe how good they shoot. I'm doing 38fpe for about 40 shots with them in my Airmax Dominator, very accurate. If I miss it's my fault! The barrel on it is a 1 in 20 twist.

Thanks Wayne
In your photo's it appears that the mold block (Old style) is tapered on the ends?
My newer ones are square cut, with no taper etc.
I can't wait either, just some more cleanup is needed..........
I just received some Hard felt tapered heads, the biggest one seems to fit the pour hole taper perfectly,
I have several fine/Ultra fine polishing compounds, and will start with them, using progressive finer grits,
to polish/clean up the holes, till there is a perfect mated hole, with no burrs.
After that, I'll take some of my ultra fine wet/dry sheets and polished the sprue cutting plate bottom,
until there is no burrs etc. I'll keep the cut off holes as small as possible, to match the OEM hole, if possible.

That should work very well Don. Almost exactly the way I do it. I cheat and use med. grit rubber bullet point abrasives first. It there is too much material before the actual hole that leaves a flat rather than a cutting edge, U use a dia. abrasive tapered burr first to get to a cutting edge and then polish it out with a hard felt bullet point loaded with green chrome compound that is designed for hard steel. It leaves a full mirror finish.
I need to do my Lyman molds. Terrible finish in the spru pockets on them.
I then use a flat diamond hone in fine grit, then ultra fine, 2200 grit to finish. This leaves the bottom of the plate very smooth and the spru holes ultra sharp. ;)
With this done, I never have to use a mallet to open the molds. Just a work gloved hand, with a wool or cotton glove inside. works very well, and is easier on the screw that holds the plate on the mold.
This also allows me to put the tension on the plate while opening that gives perfectly flat bases, with no spue showing at all.
I can't help but think that this helps with long range accuracy. 8) Maybe not, but it's my story and I'm sticking with it. ;D

Thanks Micheal
I kinda have the same concern about having a flat faced pellet head, at the sprue plate cutoff holes/end,
which is what the NOE pellet molds are. Only time will tell............
The one item I am attempting to do is, as accurately as possible is to,
keep the same diameter of the holes at the end that cuts the lead off.
The hole diameter for the cutoff holes, runs approximately .100" for the plate I just finished,
and the hole diameter of the mold nose hole is approximately .150".
The slightly egg shaped hole might take .004/5" more to clean up and have a perfectly sharp cutting edge etc.
Working very carefully, in small steps......LoL.

Don, I had terrible accuracy i the Rainstorm with the 25 cal. NOE Pellets.
I just finished installing and modding a new W'L barrel with a much slower twist, and I can't believe how accurate thar now. Woo-Hoo!!!
I haven't cast any in months. Guess I had better get busy!

Thanks Micheal
With the same 25 NOE pellets? What lead mixture?
I haven't jumped ship to the 25 caliber boat, yet, still researching the delivery systems available, that fits within my budget etc. ;)
Still working on getting the most accuracy possible out of "Leakin Leana", (79, hpa conversion).....
without getting into the $$$ bbl's, on the next step. LoL

That's pretty cool Michael !!! The same pellets don't shoot to great from my Mrod but the DAR25(unchoked) shoots them like a laser.
