My new to me FWB 80 should be here this week. Having only shot my P17 this is my first higher end pistol. Anyone have any advice, do's/don'ts or pellet recommendations?
Thanks, Justin
-
I don't have one or any specific advice. But if it is like the other fine FWB products that I have shot, it will likely shoot any wadcutter extremely well. From the RWS basic to the HN match pellets. I would love to have one myself.

My brother had a FWB 65 back in the day. Nice gun!

-
It came with a extra set of weights.
-
Very nice. Enjoy. Had it been left handed I would have bout it. Like said above I have no doubt it will shoot anything well.
-
Nice pistol! I have an FWB 80 that I picked up used back in 2000 and it still shoots great. I basically stick to pellets in the 7gr range, mostly JSB or RWS Meisterkugelns. I don't have the weights on my pistol but a buddy of mine has them on his 80. I didn't notice any difference in my accuracy using his pistol but you should probably still give the weights a go. One difference that I did notice though is the grips. Some previous owner put a nonadjustable Morini grip on my pistol and it fills my X-large hand better than the factory grip.
-
I shoot a 65. Picked the gun up a few yrs ago and enjoyed it since.
-
I have a 65. Very fine machine, but you have to do your part. When you are on target and doing all the basic proper maksmanship techniques it is amazing. If you are off, not so forgiving. I think your 80 has a weighted barrel and that should help you to hold harder. Works that way for me anyway. ;)
-
I was very fortunate to find one , green screwdriver and all! What a gem this pistol is!
-
Very nice Skillet! Mine needed a new buffer and seals, it's back together and shooting great. I also bought a case at Harbor Freight for it, for the money it'll be hard to beat.

-
Justin, I replaced the seals and buffer, too. This is a great pistol, I hope you enjoy its super fine quality!
-
Here's a pic of a 65 I purchased a little over a year ago and a target shot at 10 yards using AA 7.33 with a cheap Red Dot scope. I can't tell you how much enjoyment I get out of shooting this fine pistol. It's a sparrow and starling killing machine.

Good looking 65, and nice shooting. Good things happen on March fourth, it's my birthday, lol.

Just the best spring-piston air pistols ever made, that’s all! Great guns, you will enjoy it.
You have probably noticed the three weights for the model 80 do not weigh the same amount! So you can play with one, two, or all three in a large number of combinations, to fine-tune the balance.
One thing I’ve noticed with my 65’s over the years, is that it really pays to try different pellets. Some not only shoot better than others, but feel noticeably more “recoilless” than others. I definitely lean toward lighter weight and smaller skirt diameter in mine. 7.3 JSB’s are my current favorites.
-
I'm currently shooting RWS Basic 7.0's because they are cheap and off a bag it shoots them pretty well. When (and if) I get it figured out I'll do some testing to see what it'll shoot best. There is a lot that goes into shooting one of these well off hand.
-
It is a target pistol, so I suggest trying target wadcutters.

Learned a lot from reading your posts on the FWB line Mike, thanks.
I found a "Lot" of JSB 7.33s that shot so good in my 65 that I contacted the vendor and bought ( if I recall correctly ) about 25 tins.

Hi. I'm making a request of any experienced FWB 65 owners who have worked on their pistols. I picked up a 65 recently that is cocked but won't fire.
I'm looking for advice on how to proceed. My intent is to tear it down to replace seal and buffer. Thanks.
-
I’m not very experienced with FWB pistols but my advice is if you don’t find what you need here is to call Pilkguns before you attempt to take it apart. Under no circumstances would I try to take it apart while it’s cocked.

DEFINITELY find a way to un-cock it before taking it apart.
Apologies in advance if this is insulting your knowledge, but is the trigger-blocking mechanism working correctly?
This is controlled by the little tab right under the breech end of barrel, which is exposed when you open the action. Upon cocking, the tab springs backwards to block the trigger. When closing the action, the tab should be pushed back forward by the small bumper on the lower front of the breech sleeve. A frequent cause of this malfunction is if the bumper is gone, or smashed too flat to do its job.
-
Ah Hah ! A clue ! Thanks...... That's what that little piece is that I couldn't identify. The broken off tab! So given that the tab is broken off, how might I proceed to release the action ?? Not insulting to my knowledge, thanks . Just adding to it.
-
Ta Daaaaaaa....Thanks a million Mike. Using your input ,I was able to release the spring !! It was an exciting moment, thanks again.
Now for the tear down , Without knocking my head off.

Mark - Nice collection of guns you have there on your sig list. What do the asterisks refer to?
-
A little tidbit on the 35/80 I learned the hard way. When you reassemble your pistol make sure the threads on the cocking lever pivot screw and the gun are clean and free of oil. Apply a drop of BLUE locktite to the threads on the screw then install. I didn't know to do this on my 80 and the screw backed out and mared the finish on the gun. There is a reason that screw is staked from the factory.

I was wondering the same thing. ;)

Thanks about the lock tite on the cocking arm screw tip. I'll certainly do that.
I had the asterisk noted at the bottom but I ran out of character space....... It means multiples of.
That list probably needs updating. I've been moving a lot of product out through E bay........OK...I've moved a few in too....
I'm thinking of selling my Mod 90...... and I would love to get a Model 100 or 102 or 103 or one of some other high grade, outdated SSP.
The quest continues...

How often do you shoot them all?????? :-\

A good question. I shoot daily. My kids old play structure in the corner of the yard has been converted to a backstopped target area.
I shoot from a second floor bedroom window from 23 yds. away. I'm in an upholstered chair, literally surrounded by my pistols.
I have about a dozen pellet tins on the window sill within arms reach. Having this set up is the key to the whole deal. If you can't
shoot them , what's the point. I mean they look cool. Many are on the wall on pegs I designed. I do get around to using nearly all of
them at one point or another.
I'm slowly learning some air gun smithing and I've taken to making wooden grips from different woods, adding a lot more ergonomics
to them. I've made them for several pistols. Many for my favorites the HW45 and Diana Mods 5,6 and P5.
As you can see ,I have a broad range of pistols.
I really have a blast. I also have an unmarketed Pellet container that velcro attaches to your pistol, for when you're in the field that
is pretty cool. The Pellet Pal. Thanks for the interest guys.
-
Just wanted to say I'll be putting a variety pistols {6} up for sale on Ebay soon. I'm melesmar on Ebay. Thanks again. Mark

So. How did you off page your gun list ? Oh. It would be cool if you indicated between rifles and pistols on your most excellent list.

Oh. I also make for most Webleys. Tempest ,Hurricane, Nemesis, Senior, Premier, Mark I, Mark II, etc.etc. Gotta say they're pretty
cool. I should probably get a website together for them. Someone recommended to check out Etsy with lots of pics and vids.

That's a good idea on the pistol/rifle indices.
It's a process, and I wanted to do it because my list was so much longer than my (sometimes) one sentence replies, haha!!
So here is how I did it using the Paint program in Windows.
1. - Open any text editor (I used MS Office Word) and assemble your list. Save it just in case. Copy whatever portion you want and then paste it into a Paint pallet using Paint's text insertion app. Be mindful to the font size as your taste prefers. You'll have to size the text window (box) within Paint but it's easy as you can over-size it, paste in your text, and then shrink the text box up tighter around the text itself. I did two columns by doing two different text insertions (boxes). I copied the first half of my list from MSWord, inserted that into the first box (i.e., in my list, from Baikal through Webley) then did Crosman through the end of the list in a separate text box in Paint. Save that as a jpeg, upload it to a web pic hosting site (I use postimages.org) and then......the real fun begins.....hyperlinking to your sig......
To do that, go to your forum profile and edit the signature box as I did with the entry below. (Replace https:....through.....jpg with your image location info.) Here is verbatim what is in my signature editing box in my profile:
You can view my gun list [url*=https://i.postimg.cc/zG4zVcKv/Airgun-list-02-21-19.jpg][color*=blue]Here
Also, remove the red stars. I had to do that to keep it from actually doing it's thing again in this reply.
NOTE - It is really best to preview everything before you post it as that url= thing is very sensitive and will include stuff that shouldn't be there.
If you need more help let me know and I can do some screen shots of my Paint program and post them in here.
-
Mark - I've attached a jpg from Paint that you can upload to either your own web host or to GTA's media file. You can link it from either of those locations to insert and hyperlink in your sig.
See attachment below.

I do. It's just learning how to manipulate them that I have little experience with. You are kind to help an old luddite.
I'll see what I can do. It might take a while. My kid can help me when he's around. Thanks again.

Take your time. I'm a 65 yr. old luddite myself.
I'd just really like to see those grips. For the Tempest/Hurricane, I have the original plastic grips for all four (in my collection), the Beeman Rosewood non-finger groove type, the Beeman "Combat" wood grips with finger grooves, the Webley "Match" set with palm shelf, and a custom set that I had made by a guy in the UK. At the rate I'm going, I'm sure I'll need more in the future. :D

Man you are like "the cat lady", but with airguns. ;D

Seems like the strays just keep finding me, and I can't turn them away. I haven't bought anything new in over two years (well, except for that $21 Daisy 880 deal last year).
EDIT - I should have said I haven't bought anything NIB in two years.
I do think they are breeding in the closet however. ;)

Here's a link to some pics:

These are older models and I've made a number of changes but this should give you an idea.

Sorry Mark. That link didn't work for me. It takes me to Google Drive, and it automatically logs me in, but the photos do not appear. Google Photos only lets people view items that have been given "permission", which is why I stopped using it. Could it be that Google Drive does the same thing?

Oh well... my techy kid stopped by and did it for me.... Stay tuned. He did work out something for the sig though.

If you'd be willing to give me your Email I could sent images to you that way. ? I think.

Email sent. You should have received one other from me already as well, on Tuesday.
