Well folks, it finally arrived!
My first PCP rifle, is the "new kid on the block". The Umarex gauntlet .25 and being new to PCP rifles, I have a few questions and hope you more season guys can give me some direction here. Please bear with me.. :D
What would be the recommended sight in distance in order to utilize the Gauntlet killing power at 45 foot pound of energy?
Don't really intend to use to hunt beyond 50 yards.
With good shot placement, can .25 Gauntlet take a coyote at 40 to 50yrds with H&N Hornet Pellets .25 Cal 24.38 Grains Pointed pellets?
What would be a recommended scope for this gun. Was thinking at a 6x24x50?

I see they are now putting a factory barrel band of sorts on the Gauntlet to attempt to keep the point of impact shift the Gauntlet is famous for, under control. I hope it works for you. I did a lot of mods on mine to stop POI shifts.
A coyote is a pretty tough animal and after an internet search, many people have posted, on a variety of other sites, that you should not even consider taking a coyote with anything less than a 30 cal. air rifle. I would assume an absolutely perfect shot to the brain may get it done with something less but as you get out to 40-50 yards, the energy is dropping off to a point that I personally would not try it. We want to make humane (instant) kills as much as possible.
A 6-24 X 50 scope covers a wide spectrum of bases. I found myself gravitating to them more often than not. Hawke makes some nice ones at reasonable prices and they can successfully be used on spring guns as well. You can also look at some of the old standbys from UTG and Centerpoint also.
Make sure you look at the reticle before buying a scope to see if it is what you like.

You should be able to do well at 50 yards with a scope like that. From the few hobbyists velocity readings I've seen (all 2 of them) it looks like the gun sits around 43fpe with 25gr JSBs. I'm not sure about the coyote. People have taken them with less, but it wont leave you with a lot of wiggle room in pellet choice and accuracy. You could always try upping the reg pressure to 2100 psi for more power but nobody knows how much more yet. Do you have the shim that goes under the barrel band? I've heard they are loose fitting and I'm curious to see if anyone else is missing it.

I would sight it in at a far zero of 50 yards with JSB Kings. This would give you a near zero of 12 yards and a hold under of 1 inch at 30 yards. Well within the 1 inch kill zone for most small game like squirrels and rabbits. I would have no reservations with taking head shots on coyotes up to 50 yards. However, if that was my primary purpose, I would use the JSB King Heavy MKII pellets.
