Title: FX Royale 500 bottle question
Post by: RandyC on December 13, 2018, 01:59:41 PM
Hi.

Has anyone changed their Royale 500’s bottle to the carbon fibre one and still have both?

I am thinking of making a custom stock and switching to the carbon fibre bottle.

Is the carbon fibre bottle any smaller in diameter? I want to get the clearances right. Even a 1/16 of an inch changes things, and need an accurate measurement.

Thanks

I had a 500 that i changed to a carbon fiber bottle from talon tunes, my stock was synthetic and i used a sanding drum to make the stock fit after the change, seems i removed quite a bit of material. Hope that helps.  Steve

Wow, thanks

So the carbon fibre bottle was actually a bigger diameter? That is not good to hear.

If your looking for smaller OD on your air tank. Try using the tank off the bobcat

Yes that is quite a bit smaller, but looks awfully long being it’s a bull pup.

I dont remember the bottle being that much bigger, the synthetic stock was tight to the factory bottle, and needed some material removed for proper clearance for the carbon bottle!

So I guess it is bigger for sure then. I was really hoping it was a bit smaller.  Thanks for the information

Yeah it's a bit bigger in diameter but so worth the upgrade,  the CF is almost a full pound lighter!   I've modified both a Walnut and Laminate to accomodate,  it really isn't much material to remove.

On my Royale 400, I changed a 400cc aluminum to a 500cc CF (not 480cc), but I did it for the shot count since the 400 aluminum and 500 CF weighs almost the same.  I had to use a Dremel to make it fit.  It wasn't a big deal but the necks are different so I had to remove enough wood to make it fit.
