can anyone give me a general idea of when this was made?
forgot i had this 880 WAYYYYYY back in a closet,
its got a metal reciever, plastic stock, plastic pump handle, brass pump tube,
and the diamond is an extra piece attached to the forearm and not just painted on.
will only hold whatever air the pump arm can compress on one stroke and lets all the air out when i open the pump arm again.
cant seen to find a serial number, but forgot to look when i had it apart the last time.

Look at the barrel shroud for the number (photo attached). Letter is month (skip "I"), first number is last number of year. This was the code from late 1972 until late 1982. If it's something besides a letter followed by six numbers, post it and we'll go from there. Or you can use the info here: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=151380.msg1552512#msg1552512 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=151380.msg1552512#msg1552512)

Hi,Chris!
Sounds like you have one similar to mine, with that diamond being an extra piece!
Fixed up it's one heck of a shooter!

yes,plastic handle.
I'll be home in about 15 minutes and then I will be able to check for a serial number.

cool thanks 8)
now to get it to hold more than one pump or sell it lol

Try the alcohol flush, then try Pellgun oil or 30wt non detergent on the wiper and work it in a bit. leave two pumps in it sitting overnight.
It will make a fine rifle for your son as he gets older! ;)
(don't forget, the bolt needs to be open when you pump) ;D

ive had it completely apart and cleaned the valve and piston and doused with 30wt,
and let it set for 2 or 3 days pumping periodically,
still nothing.
still only holds 1 pump

Probably seals then. I went the other way, and put new innards in mine. It takes some doing, though.

All the parts you need are dirt cheap from Daisy...

I have gotten one like yours and ordered all the parts from Daisy, the customer service was great. Once you get it together (very easy to do), your gun will shoot just like the day you bought it or maybe even better. This gun is designed very well with a very simple design.

What color is that?
Why I said August of 20014 is beyond me, I meant to ask is it August of 2004 ;- ) Thank you for clarifying it is from 2004 ; -)
That shroud is actually no color at all, it is the color of the bare metal after being sand blasted, getting ready for Cerakoting. The barrel shroud will be a flat black as this is the color we use on some of our products.
I plan on having the forearms and stock black, and as of now don't plan on a scope on this gun. I want this 880 to be lean and mean, basic outside gun with a few mods for pump volume (washers),valve air flow ( pen spring and tapered valve head base), taped barrel for improved accuracy and a sear angle trigger improvement (45deg filing on sear). All of which takes very little time .. all of them less than an hour to do once the gun is apart !
Hope this gun works out like I plan ;- )
