Title: Crosman 1400 reseal
Post by: Tack Driver 10 on December 12, 2018, 02:52:33 PM
Picked up a 1400 off Ebay for a decent price.
Missing sights and has a crack in the stock on RH side.
The gun is in good shape otherwise in need of a reseal.

Want to keep this close to stock so just some minor mods:

Opened the exhaust port on the valve from .125" to .150".
Counter bored the barrel .100" deep to accept .150" Delrin transfer port.
Flat top 70 duro poly O-ring piston and valve.
Need to make a pivot pin to replace the temp brass pin.

Should get to chrony it soon.

That's a killer piston there. Very nice work.

Thanks, the brass FT piston head is screwed on with 5/16"x24 threads and machined true.
The holes drilled in the nut and piston are for adjusting the piston in the gun.

Ran the gun over the chrony:
14.3 grain CPHPs

05 pumps=563 FPS  10.06 FPE
07 pumps=625 FPS  12.40 FPE
10 pumps=712 FPS  16.09 FPE

Decent power considering the 70 duro o-rings.
I'll run it again after the replacement pivot bolt gets installed.
The 3/16" temp brass pin bends robbing power.

Those are good numbers. Those 1400s can really crack

Yep... the 1400 had a bit more umph over the 140. I like the bolt better than the collars as well. The wood is a bit hard to refinish. I tends to get "blotchy" if not done right.

Made the pivot pin from a 10-32 black oxide shank bolt.
Contoured the tube side of the brass washers so they sit tight against the tube.
The LH side is threaded so the pivot pin can't spin.
