Title: Better sights for Benjamin H9A series .177 pistol
Post by: Taso1000 on December 05, 2018, 11:20:04 PM
Hi All,

I have this Benjamin (Crosman) H9A series pistol in .177 caliber.  I don't have the box so I don't know the exact model pistol this is.  It was purchased around 2000 or 2001 from Sports Authority.  I like the pistol but can't work with the sights.  Besides pistol scopes or red dot sights do any of you know if better sights are available for this pistol?

To me the front blade is too thin to pick up in the rear sight.  I would prefer a standard front and rear sight setup so that I can get trigger time indoors.  Two or three pumps is enough to maintain my trigger skills between range time.

Thank you all in advance for your help!   ;D

You might try building up the thickness of the front sight with tape or putty if it is too thin. Painting the front blade a light color might also help. I don't believe there are any aftermarket sights for these pistols.
Another thing you can possibly try is the MT439(?) mounts for scoping the benjis and  putting a pistol scope or red dot on it.

Here's how I set up mine. I used a Crosman intermount 3/8" and found an old Bushnell Phantom 1.3x with a 3/8" rail. The Bushnell is small enough and light enough not to overpower the little H9A. Only disadvantage is working around the scope while pumping, but it is doable. Note that this old 1.3x Phantom has no parallax issues at the short 10 meter distance I shoot in the winter. From a lot of experimentation and experience, I can tell you that a standard 2x pistol scope and most red dots will have some parallax issues up that close.

I am all ears... the sights on my H9A are the ONLY thing I'd like to change.
I thought about brazing or soldering the rear notch shut and cutting a thinner slot in it.
