Scroll down a little bit to get to the guns.

Yeah, the Black Eagle has been at $ 97 for a few months and just spiked to its present price.  Crazy.

Not sure what the Valken "ERROR#NA" is (maybe a Dragon GRS by the looks). Both are great buys at $66 & $77 with free shipping. If I didn't already have them I'd be all over this. They are solid, well built 18-20 FPE rifles and a cut above the Chinese junk.

The $95 Black Eagle .177 was through BuyYourGun, not Valken. I followed it until there was one left. It is now downstairs.  ;) Came double-boxed, new and with Valken papers in the box. Maybe the seller picked it up from a closed dealer, etc? Nice gun and pairs well with my .22 Storm. Both are Marvic variants and well made with decent triggers.

I have Black Eagles in both .177 & .22......both bought from Amazon for $99/free ship. VERY nice rifles with good triggers. I'm tempted to strip the black finish and see what lies underneath.

I see that the "Valken Error:#N/A" is now $240  :o .  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0142BHO8I/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0142BHO8I/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I ordered one @ $70 + tax for a total of  $76 delivered. You are correct, it is the Norica Dragon GRS Evolution Max. I have an Dragon Evolution .22 (not Max) and after I test this one I'll keep the rifle I like best and gift the other this Christmas.

I guess I'll never understand Amazon's computerised pricing....$70 one day and $240 the next.

Thanks OP for the heads up!

Not sure what's going on. My Black Eagle was from TradeMyGun but had Valken paperwork. Valken direct seems a bit higher. Might be TradeMyGun bought up some Valken imported new old stock.

The ones sold by Amazon also have Valken paterwork. I believe Valken is/was the importer/distributor for Norica product in the USA. I have the feeling that Valken is discontinuing the Norica line of products, hence we see them on closeout from various retailers. I find the fit & finish, performance and quality on par with Hatsan and better than many of the chinese imports.

Thank you Dan.

Have already been watching Amazon for a long time trying to figure out their algorithm for dumping slow moving stock. Previously got bargain Dragons (spring & GRS 177) and an Atlantic (spring 177) on Amazon and like everything about these rifles, except that 15 lb direct sear trigger!

Feels like I'm lifting cinder blocks with one finger! Regardless of the HARD trigger, am still able to get awesome 30' groupings with the rifles that have opens sights. IMHO these are GOOD hunting rifles.

My trigger finger still needed more of a workout so I grabbed the Spyder GRS 177 when it dropped below $62. The Spyder has been down to $51, but that one vanished before I could "pull the trigger".

Regards,
MikeyB

True about the trigger weight. On both my Dragon & Spyder GRS the trigger is real heavy but predictable and breaks consistently. If you snag a Black Eagle you will find a much more refined trigger that is adjustable to 3 or 4 lbs, maybe less (I don't have a gauge, just comparing it to Diana and HW triggers)

The only 2 up right now are the black eagle and storm that have the true 2 stage trigger . I owned a storm and regret selling it. The trigger  is from the marvic.  IIRC the others are direct sear or copy the gamo. Here is the link to the Norica page with parts schematics.

The old way of telling the direct sear and adjustable triggers apart was to line up the top of the trigger with the belly of the stock. If it is almost in line, it's adjustable. The direct sear triggers are hinged more in line with the center. Also, the adjustables have the Gamo style safety.

If you get a Storm be careful how far up the stock you run your hand. That schnabel tip is right pointy. (Ouch!)

Sorry guys and gals  :(

I pulled the trigger on the last 2(?) $62 Norica Spiders on Amazon and now the pricing is sky high and availability sketchy. That's the Amazon inventory flushing algorithm at work again.

Not sure WHY I like these low-end Noricas so much. Odd.

Posted the Spider(s) review on Amazon. I'd prefer to post a review here, but still a newbie and can't post links or photos yet.

If anyone is interested, browser cut & paste onto Amazon dot com should work ... "/gp/customer-reviews/R4EA99QQB4VG5?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp"

Sorry Mikey, don't see your review at the link posted. At any rate, I have few Noricas and they are a bargain when they are under $100.

PS, make a few "me too" posts" and you can then put up a proper link.

Glad you like your Spyder....I like mine ;D
