I've mentioned before that I've started shooting some "fun" 10M matches with a group that my buddy shoots with at a local gun club. At 57 I'm always the youngest there. They shoot 10M rifle bench, 10M air pistol and 10M rifle off hand during the winter. I finished last in my first and only bench rest shoot, lol. Last week they had a pistol shoot and an off hand rifle match for the guys that don't have pistols. Not having a pistol I tagged along and shot in the rifle match, to my surprise I won! Now this is not a serious competition and I have no doubt that if the two Anschutz PCP rifles that normally are there were shooting I'd finished well back in the pack.
In a couple other threads there was some discussion on adjustable iris's and other devices. My buddy loaned me his Gehmann 510 to try so tonight I did. My 300S wears it's factory sights although I do use a set of front inserts from Champions Choice. The best I could measure the factory rear iris was 1.07mm, the Gehmann is adjustable from .05-3.0mm. Since I don't know what I'm doing I adjusted the Gehmann to where it was comfortable to my eye, I resighted off the bench and proceeded to shoot ten targets off hand like we would in a match. I can say I'll have one of these! after sighting in I cleaned the 10 bulls eyes on the bench target and scored better than I ever have on the 10 pistol targets we use for off hand. The big thing was no eye fatigue, after shooting the off hand match last week my eye was sore.
Please take this with a pound of salt as I'm new to all of this and learning through trial and error.

I love my 530. I want one on every diopter sight I have. I may go with the 510 next time as I can have two for less than the price of one 530, but I do like the 1.5x adaptor, and the +/-4.5 adjustment that comes with the 530.
