Title: Yong heng tip when filling you tank or gun.
Post by: toku58 on October 30, 2018, 02:38:52 AM
Here something I figured out. Maybe some of you already have??
But when filling your gun or tank make sure that there is no sagging loop in you fill hose.

The so called moisture bleeder isn't very good and the water will seek the lowest point in the system.
I noticed that when I cracked the bleeder every few minutes very little moisture would come out. Thinking that it wasn't producing much liquid. (But I was wrong!)

Longer purging revealed that the moisture was already past the bleeder in the low point of the fill hose. So very little moisture would come out when bleeding.
My gold filter is mounted vertically so it was preventing the moisture from getting into my tank, But the original tampon filter would be saturated in a short time of filling air.

Needless to say that you don't want to depend on your filtration to catch the moisture. (Bleeding most of it out before it can reach the filters would be ideal)

I repositioned everything so that the bleeder manifold is the lowest point in the line and that made a huge difference in the amount of moisture that I was able to bleed out during the fill cycle.

Hope this tip helps minmize moisture risk in your system!

Have a Great Day!

Forgot to add another tidbit.

My YH was having trouble filling my tank yo 4200psi it became really slow to fill past 3500 psi. I found out that the burst disk had started to leak. Not fail.
When I took it apart it appeared stretched to a small dome shape but it hadn't burst. But I guess it was enough to allow air the escape around the sides of the disk.

Given all the noise of the compressor itself you'd probably not even hear any air leak. I put my finger next to the pin hole on the burst disk plug and I could feel air escaping.

Replaced the disk and it charged up my air tank no problem!

Just something to look for if your HY seems to be slowing down on the fill time!

Good Luck!

One of the guys over on the AGG came up with a dryer that goes on the input of an HPA compressor. Maybe that would work for you too?

I believe you misunderstood.
I have already figured out the moisture issue.
I'm just letting others know so they are aware of the problem and can resolve their moisture issue.

I sit my gold filter vertically in ice water. Use a half filter, dessicant, half filter.  I leave a couple inches free at the bottom where most moisture accumulates. I dissasembled and remove the water each usage. I have two 60 minute and two 30 minute scba tanks that I fill to 4200 with the Yong Heng all at the same time.  Use ice in water for coolng, no problems.....I did buy rebuild parts for the future.
