I recently got an offset scope ring one piece by 'monstrom' the rings are not bad but they have cheap Chinese screws in them and I can already feel them getting ready to strip the heads out.
I put a set of calipers on one and measured the outside thread at 3.85mm so are these 4x40 or something?
Seems to be like a 'standard' screw/thread but not quite sure what they are.
Thanks!
-
Those screws are probably 4mm. It is most likely they are metric.
-
Thanks, yea pretty sure they are 4x40 but just wanted some confirmation. That's a pretty common size.
-
A 4 mm screw is .175" in diameter and a #4 screw is .110" in diameter.
-
3mm or 4-40, one or the other for sure.
-
Take one out, run down to your local hardware store (both Valu and Ace carry them) and match it up against an m4 .50 pitch screw, then just find the length you need, they have several lengths to pick from.
-
Well it turns out they are standard M4x70 pitch threads. Which are pretty common.
But as always there is a catch. The heads on the ones that came with the scope are much smaller, thinner walled? A standard M4 socket cap screw will not fit into the recesses.
-
Most scope screws I've seen have been socket head or Allen head type.
-
They are socket heads but the heads diameter is smaller than your standard. A standard head measures out at around 7mm the ones in this mount are around 4mm.
Another annoying thing about this mount is that it comes with 'adaptors' that are supposed to slip in to allow the use of a 1" scope. They don't fit correctly. They had ridges on both ends that I suppose is to help them stay in place once installed which might be a good idea if they were not too close together. I had to mod them by filing off the ridges on one end. I put them in place with a dose of Locktite blue. We will see if they stay put.
This is the rings.

So far it is the 'best' for me. I cant seem to find anything similar that accommodates a 1" scope and weaver flat bar mount. Everything seems to be for 11mm.

With very little trouble I think I found what you want on eBay for $7.59 and free shipping.

Those are all dovetail 11mm. The mayhem has weaver rails on it.
But I did find this...

Which is basically the same thing I already have but sized for 1"
Also this...

Very sexy in blue :D

My bad, I thought you were after dovetail in one inch. Try this: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=one+inch+weaver+scope+mount&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=one+piece+dovetail+scope+mount (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=one+inch+weaver+scope+mount&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=one+piece+dovetail+scope+mount)
For Weaver rail I always opt for a two piece mount - the Weaver rail does not have a standard for spacing like the Picatinny. Of course you need to decide how high the mounts should be. I also like to get the mounts with four screw straps on each ring.
You may also wish to go to Optics Planet, Pyramyd, or your choice of vendors. One inch mounts in Weaver are still pretty common. You can even find them at most Walmart stores or at Walmart on line.

Have a look at these maybe. Reversed, which is how I have them on all my rifles, they'll work just like that one piece mount you got and they're made for weaver/picatinny rails and scopes with 1 inch tubes.
1 inch reach:

Yep, they're a bit pricey but not a single one of my scopes has ever moved in those rings.

Thanks guys, I already ordered the 'sexy' UTG mount I linked above. Not a big fan of two piece mounts :)

:P $25.35 extra because it's blue instead of one of the other colors?
-
It's machine milled aluminum bar stock rounded with lightening holes ::)
-
It's a good looking mount in blue but I'm wondering why the five other colors are priced @ $31.94 and the blue one is $56.02? Very strange.
-
Haha... I noticed that too. Black 'yawn', Red too gaudy... I dunno
BTW cool picture with the model plane. Is that you?
-
Yes that's me. I was the power source for that tow line free flight glider.
