Sorry, one clarification:
This is "phase 1" of the project. I will be taking the collected data and building a web survey around it. I will circle back and share that actual survey link. It won't be a google sheet but a more structured survey with questions and choices :-)
And if you prefer to reply here with a compressor make and model I would be glad to add it to the list!
-
I'll start-
Tuxing 220v auto shutoff model-used only to fill guns directly
Yong Heng 110v non auto shutoff model-used only to fill guns directly
-

1. YH Simple Model, 220V, owned 1 year, used to fill air guns to 3000 psi, largest tank on an air gun is 13ci tank for the Gauntlet. I have also topped off my 90ci air tank about 3 times. Was $190 shipped, fully refunded by Walmart because it was not as advertised. Needs to be rebuilt, parts on order: gaskets, high side piston and rings and high side cylinder head.
2. YH Set Pressure Model, 220V, owned about 1 month, used to fill air guns with tanks to 13ci. Have also usd it to top off my 90ci tank once thus far. Paid $196 shipped, seller refund $30 because it was missing the power cord, water pump and hoses.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here is my list of compressors and models. Some of the compressors didn't have specific models given. Let me know if there are any obvious omissions!
I am also thinking about simplifying how people report use on the compressors. I will probably just ask for the number of hours of run-time.
Again, any comments or suggestions are welcome :-)

Shoebox F8 purchased used with approximately 100 hours of use. Paid $900 and the price included a Joe B filter. Have owned it between 3-4 years. Did a rebuild after I put on another 100 hours. Unfortunately due to an error on my part at the rebuild it cost me a couple of hundred dollars to get it running right again. Have put on another 25+ hours with no issues. It is used to fill the SCBA medium tanks I have. I've run it almost non stop over 8 hours at a time when filling several tanks in one session.
-
Zhong Yan? Never heard of that one! Is he Yong Heng's cousin?
LOL! At first I was calling it the Chinese Mystery Compressor. Has absolutely no markings. I did find some pictures from the Zhong Yan company that look identical. The head is the main mystery part...

ZhongYan manufactures 4 different 4500 PSI Yong Heng types, each in 110 and 220V:
1. Simple - doesn't have first-stage drain
2. Hardcover - has a first-stage drain
3. Auto Stop - automatically stops before exceeding pressure limit
4. Set pressure - you can set the pressure at which it automatically stops

Hi folks,
I have created the survey. You can submit your HPA compressor experiences here:
http://bit.ly/hpa-compressor-survey (http://bit.ly/hpa-compressor-survey)
Thanks to everyone who has helped me identify the compressors that should be included. If you have a compressor that is not listed in the above survey please email and I will add it! mcoulter@syr.edu
To everyone who has posted your experiences here I will ask that you also submit the survey. Doing so will help me tremendously in managing the data.
Thanks!
- Matt
p.s. I am going to ask the admins an see if this thread can be locked just to make sure the survey is where people enter their information :-)
-
Thread locked per OP request. Please see the survey link.
