Title: Bulldog and Rick Morrill ammo
Post by: Tonycalves on October 12, 2018, 03:22:47 PM
Anyone have any experience with Rick Morrill ammo in a Bulldog. Its a good value if they shot straight!

Thanks
Anthony

I'll answer my own question next week. Just ordered an assortment.

I've had good results with his 97 gr pellets, very accurate  at 40 yrds , have not used any of his other ammo

Although I prefer to roll my own and have for 55 years, Rick’s 120 grain HP at this point in time out perform anything dropping on my bench in my Bulldog.

I purchased the sampler bundle and found the 87 grain and 94 grain domes do great in my bulldog.  I like them enough that I made a large purchase of both.  I’ve had so so groups with the rest.  They are a good buy.

What velocities did you get good accuracy? I dumbed down my bulldog to 790 820fps JSBs. All i need for current conditions.

Shooting off a stool the JSBs where better. I did shoot the sh!t out of it and did not clean the barrel in tuning. 5 shot JSBs 1" ragged hole 25 yds. The RM 84 and 97 each had a decent group.

Clean the gun and retry.

I sent some to TKerrigan, he got 1.5 at 57 yards at 925 if I remember right..  That was when he had his ported at .277 which my #1 upper is ported.

I sighted in my #1 upper with jJSAR valve from a very rickety tri pod and primos rest at 33 yards, I would fire 1 shot, make corrections and then fire 4 for group, refill and repeat, I megasured two of the groups at .75 outside so around .40.ctc. I had my spring turned in 4 turns.
