Title: My Precious
Post by: Matchstickshooter on October 08, 2018, 11:12:28 AM
This may have been spoken of before......... remember Gollum from Lord of the Rings?
If you could choose only one, what is  "your precious"?

mine would have to be the one I've had the longest now, my PC77 from 2010, that an airgun brother from the state of Washington made some wonderful walnut grips for.

It has taken many red tree rats in the past, and has knocked over a number of matchsticks!

That is exactly what I have been mulling over in my head for a while.
Trying to prioritize my Air guns... Even when I try and go in reverse order as in what would I sell first.
MAN it ain't easy!
There are a few equally tied at the top and bottom of the list.
For my best, all around use, air gun I guess it would be my Air Arms S400 carbine. So smooth with it's side lever, accurate enough to hit the "X" ring as a 10M gun, and suitable for FTT . Plus with its FAC screw adjusted up, it is strong enough to take down critters.

But letting go of my FWB 300S or my Lightly used Sheridan Blue Streak would be TOUGH!

Oh gosh...there are several that I can think of right off the bat.
I guess the first FWB124 I bought, because it introduced me to the world of what I consider "real" air rifles, and because I spent a pretty penny getting her tuned by one of the best.

Mine is a recent find, a first version 1940/'41 Red Ryder (no way to tell the two years apart). It was abused and neglected- rusty, taken apart then left that way with the air tube almost peened shut and a cracked stock, plus suffereing the indignity of being advertised as a “1938B Red Ryder” (which is the long way of saying a current RR, and the reason why it cost $20 TL). But after dressing the air tube w/a small file, soaking the leather seals with some 30w, gluing the stock and a little scrubbing with 4-0 steel wool to clean away some of the 78 years’ worth of dirt and rust, I reassembled it and it thanked me for my efforts by being the hardest hitting unmodified Daisy lever BB gun I've ever owned. And it shoots to POA. I’ll never get rid of it.

I'm going to pick 4.

1979 Sheridan blue streak (  ol' blue )
1967 Benji 312 sent to me by Marty ( Yella boy )
2018 880 with 5899 rear sight ( accuplinker )
2015 red ryder.

That covers the 3 main pellet calibers and I get to sling some bb's, I love other guns of mine but I think these would leave me perfectly satisfied I'm sure.

Just bought a 177 Brocock Bantam Hi Lite. My hope is that rifle will become my rifle I shoot 100% of the time; plinking, trick shots and Hunter Field Target.

I don't do any hunting.

I might hang on to my GAMO Urban for the 22 caliber (bought it during last year's Black Friday sale for $172). Makes a nice, meaty smack on metal targets at 82 yds.

Curious on your thoughts on it! Great guns from what I hear

I researched the heck out of it (like always). I found a lot of very happy owners.

Time to let "the cat out of the bag" so to speak.
I have been hinting around about a deal I have been working on with a fellow member here for an HW98 already stroked and tuned but shot very little. "Like New" sent him a down payment until the bonus check comes. She is boxed up with my name on it.
I feel THIS may be my precious that I have been seeking for oh so long since I saw my first R11 a few years ago.
It's just that it isn't in my grubby Gollum claws yet.
"Must find, hold the Precious"

You'll have to pitch your tent outside of UPS, instead of waiting around for delivery! ;D
