Title: Weihrauch brochure from 1959
Post by: MDriskill on October 07, 2018, 08:08:54 AM
Scans of a Weihrauch brochure from 1959. Thought you old-airgun fans might find it interesting! The lineup consisted of only three rifle models at that time (HW 55, 35, and 50), and the different variants, available accessories, etc., are quite interesting.

Note the “Received” stamp on the front sheet. HP White Labs is the company that did the velocity testing for WHB Smith’s classic 1957 reference book, “Gas, Air, and Spring Guns of the World” (they are still in the business of specialized ballistic testing to this day).

I’m asumming these rifles of that period would be very rare in this country? I don’t remember ever seeing one at gun shows or online.  But maybe I just not attuned to them.  Always looking for British rifles.

I suspect you are correct.

To the best of my knowledge, Robert Law’s “Air Rifle Headquarters” in West Virginia was the first to import Weihrauch air rifles to the US in significant numbers. The company was founded in 1963 and had moved heavily into European springers by ‘65. A few HW’s may have come in before that, but not on a large or organized basis I suspect.

I do have an HW 50 and several HW 55’s of that approximate vintage or even older, but those all came from European sites or other collectors.
