I am looking for a starter FT scope .
I have one (VT-2 4x16x50 SFIR-N) mounted on my .177 HW95 and "so far so good" after a couple months.........
I couldn't handle the "bright blue lens caps" so they were painted black..........

My particular scope didn't come with a side wheel so I modified an 80mm UTG wheel by sanding out the rubber insert for a snug fit on the Discovery side focus knob, machined away the "knobbies on the rim" to make it easier to attach a holdover tape, then secured it to the focus knob with RTV silicone rubber after tossing the side wheel set screws that never worked very well, even on the UTG scope I owned. The set screws didn't hold the SW on the focus know very securely and I did damage one focus knob by over tightening the set screws when trying to keep the SW from "rocking back and forth" when focusing..........

Some hard to believe reviews but they caused me to spend a few coins to at least test one out..........

LOL....Chinese QC? Notice the etching on the first Discovery scope (Discorey LOL) but the spelling is correct on the front lens ring :o..........

I am looking for a starter FT scope .
I use a .177 R9 and a .177 HW95 (usually the HW95) for hunter class field target shooting and not long ago I ordered a 4-16x50 Discovery VT-2 4-16x50 SFIR-N scope directly from China........

I didn't like the bright blue lens covers so I painted them black and I also modified an old UTG 80mm side wheel to work with the scope...........

When the supplied sun shade was attached the scope was so long that I lathe cut a bot of sunshade so I could get a better eye position........

I liked the "Hawke style reticle" of the Discovery I ordered and the optics did seem to be pretty good for a sub $200 scope and the side focus did snap "in and out" adequately, however the view is a bit like looking through a tunnel, kinda like my 4-16x40 Center Point I bought at "WallyMart" for about $80.
While the 4-16x50 Discovery has held up on my HW95 which has been detuned to about 13fpe and it does work OK for for the field target "bucket and sticks" hunter class. While I do like the side focus feature of the Discovery, I do prefer the field of view and optics of my 5-15x50 Hawke Panorama and it's currently mounted on the HW95. I do have to mention that the Panorama cost about $80 more than the Discovery.
While reading the Discovery owner's manual I did find some "strange to me" verbiage concerning the Discovery warranty............
First, the warranty "applies as long as it's owned by the original owner". Warranty work requires a "copy of the original receipt" .
From the above.......
"THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER DEFECTS OR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY ABUSE, MISUSE, NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR"
LOL....how is this a warranty if it doesn't include "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR"? :o ???
This "normal wear and tear" clause does seem to contradict the "applies as long as it's owned by the original owner" statement so it might require a "legal council" if the scope failed due to "normal wear and tear" by the "original owner".
Anywhoo....don't think I'd order another scope "directly from china" and the Discovery warranty does seem like a non-warranty to me. Do the same warranty restrictions apply to all the Discovery scopes offered, I really don't know! There are a lot of YouTube videos of scopes being pounded on tables, scopes clamped to sleds and the sleds banged with heavy hammers, scopes being thrown across a field, all with optical instruments "proving" the scopes weren't damaged..........however there is very little info posted on the internet concerning the actual warranty!

Here is some "Discovery UK" warranty info..........

Agreed, that warranty statement leaves a lot to be desired.

I know nothing about Discovery scopes, but, this type language is not that unusual. But, an inexpensive scope with a limited distribution network does not inspire confidence.

I returned a Discovery scope, the ED 4-16x50 recently. It isnt a good scope and I dont recomend it, but its almost a great scope. ( elevation turret stuck, no lends coatings, elevation knob labeled backwards) Youre return will be dependent on youre vender. Wes at Airgunarcheryfun treated me right and returned it no problems. I have the discovery HD 34mm 3-18x50 and it is allot better.

The Discovery HS 4-14x44 SF Ultra Light is one of the most durable Scopes in their lineup.
