Title: .22 and .25 bbt moulds
Post by: Hobbyman2007 on September 19, 2018, 08:48:24 PM
Now let’s see what’s working and what isn’t with these moulds . I own the 30 gr .220” mould and it works well in just about all barrels when sized accordingly , Hatsan ,crosman ,LW  . I’ve shot them out to 100 yards but they do much better inside 50 . I don’t typically adjust my speed while on the bench shooting , the speed is set at home in my “ Gungeon “ shooting over a chrony in a controlled setting usually between 900 and 950 fps . The exception is a steroided Benji 392 that shoots them close to 650 fps.
The 41 and 51 grain .251 “ moulds on the other hand I just can’t get them better than 4” at 50 yards . Regardless of speed , HP’d or solid with the 41 grainers doing slightly better in the HP . I have only tested them through a Hatsan 1:17 “ twist and LW with pretty much the identical specs. At say 30 yards I can get 1” groups but all bets are off after that . Would love to hear how they perform from faster twist barrels or if anyone has the magic formula . I’d love if these would shoot 1” or less at 50 yards . I’ve actually been thinking of playing with the HP pin to get the weight bias to the rear of the bullet , just haven’t had time to experiment .

Any indication of bullet wobble at 50 yards, or is it just a scatter?

I can’t tell if it’s wobbling. When I tried on paper over 50 yards , I’d get a few within an inch then a couple of flyers .

I have the .25 BBT solid nose mold.  I have seen the same few great then a flyer.  I contribute it to variance in my casting.  I have some new sizing dies, and plan to do a new casting run and minimize mold and melt temp, and then size some of the batch to different diameters to see if I can find a size the rifle likes more than another.

If any of you casters/swagers ever feel the need or want, I'd be more than willing to test out some of your slugs/pellets. I can purchase some from you and let you know how they do in a .22 Gamo Magnum with a 22 twist rate barrel.

Just throwin that out there.   8)

So far, One Shot is one of the very few that have gotten them to shoot. He sized 1 thousandth under groove dia.

He sent a few for my trials, and they did not group well at all in my 1 in 14 twist RS.

I have the 217-30-FN BBT's and they shoot very good from my SPA M16 and my Prod, I haven't really tried them in my DAR22 yet, the .22 Magnum hunters shoot so good out of that gun that I haven't bothered trying anything else, I'll have to give them a go the next time I'm out with it.
