The tools that I'm talking about are my Lee caster and Lyman ladle. Originally I started out with Lyman steel molds, I think they're really nice for the muzzle loaders but for what I need now the molds that I prefer are the brass. Basically the only airgun type molds that I have are NOE and they're indeed top notch molds. Brass really holds the heat well and I don't keep my mold on a hot plate while casting, this avoids the over heating that can warp them. I do use aluminimum molds when brass wasn't available, I've got a five cavity BBT NOE mold I can cast enough in a short period of time to last a really long time.
When I warm the mold up I'll set it on the caster with the sprue plate facing up, when the lead in the caster is melted good I then start casting.
I only use 99.9% pure lead for pellets and don't mix any storebought pellets in the mix. Lead pipe is really good, I've used it a lot but my supply is gone so I finally ordered a split pig ingot from RotoMetals.

I've since been using a hatched head for cutting, it works much better. Some of y'all might already know that I'm an avid fan of metal detecting and these old axe and hatchet heads are everywhere in the metal detecting world. I've also used up several lead ingots that I've found through the years metal detecting.
People have pm'd me many times how I get the skirts so nice on my pellets, I learned very early on how to fill skirts on mini balls for my replica Lyman Remington Zouave and rather than just holding the mold vertical and pouring through the air I started holding the enclosed ladle nipple directly in the sprue plate and tilt both back and forth. Once you get use to casting this way you won't spill any lead, I just make sure when I'm doing all of this I'm above the caster just in case, because now and then I'll still get dribbles because of a dirty nipple on the ladle.

These pellets here are proven squirrel slayers, if I have the cross hairs on him when the trigger breaks I've got them. Yesterday I got a black squirrel, red squirrel and a fox squirrel and they were all head shots. That was out in the wild too, it's different in the woods than it is in your back yard. I was kinda pround of the off hand 20 yard shot that I did on the black squirrel , the meplats are devastating.

I've been on a DAR kick recently and my pellets of choice on the DAR25&DAR22 are both Magnum Hunters.

As usual, molds are being received, but only one person giving any kind of results. Odd to be sure. It was the same for the .30, and the original .25's. Nada, zip. Scary for future buyers!
Anyone have actual comparative results what so ever? Anyone? Especially on the new shorter pellets?

Michael I'll be trying some out either Saturday or Sunday for the 250-27-RF my mold is scheduled to be here tomorrow so I'll be casting them soon.

Good Deal Wayne! so far, you and Oneshot are the only people who have actually given us any results from either bullets or pellets, that have worked. Thanks guy! 8)

Just wondering... should there be a list or own topic where people can give information which bullet/pellet works and which gun. If that information is scattered all over on many topics it is hard to find when needed.

Teemu you're right about certain pellets I know for sure. One mold that I have that's an NOE mold "250-34-RF" won't fit the magazines of the FX guns from what I've heard. I haven't done much testing with my Mrod on these pellets either and that's something I'll need to do once I get the Mrod the way I want it. Choked barrels make a difference as well, there's so many variables.
