Hello,
Anybody own one or fired one? Wondering how does it feel compared to the regular 97kt.
-
No one own or fired one yet? Wondering how the synthetic stock feel compared to the wood.
-
Not sure they are importing them are they? Basides the wood is so perdy! ;D

I have seen them on the AOA site and they too have been calling me. I'm sure they shoot and feel just as good as the regular wood stocked models

Is it really stainless steel? This is the text from the AoA web page "...Stainless-look metal finish..."
In my book, "Stainless-look" is not stainless steel.
Brushed nickel plated will look like satin/brushed finish stainless steel.

not stainless steel... is on last month issue of airgun world...

Looks nice but thats a lot of cash and the sole source has a mostly a no return policy if you get a lemon....so until Pyaramid Air gets them its a non player for me even though I like it

WOW, do you think Pyramyd will get them? I wouldn't mind a Diana 56th or 470 or 440 from them either.

i've only seen them over at AOA.....if its a HW 97 it will be sweet! covered in rust burried in a hole for ten years it would still be sweet LOL......those things are tanks...Bart

I like the wood and think the HW35E in "stainless" looks great. The HW50 in plastic is a dog too. They just say entry level and looks like it belongs in Walmart. Dump the plastic and bring on the wood.
The HW50SS actually has a beech wood stock with a durable "paint" finish.
I'm 60/40 on picking one up myself. :)

Hi all,
it's certainly not stainless but nickeled. I don't know what nickeling process was used, but I saw some pretty bad remarks about the "silver " finish on the UK forum BBS. Possibly exceptions or production run - in problems. The synthetic stock looks identical to the wood version, but for some reason they left out the adjustable butt pad. Hans W wrote me that the synthetic stock weighs 200 grams more than the wooden one, which I think should be 200 grams less.
The nickel version looks like intended specifically for HFT, and they should thus have installed the adjustable butt pad with even better reason.
The stock is no beauty, but imagine the nickel version action in the blue laminate stock....It looks like a nice pointing set-up, though.
In the UK there was a wailing wall thread about HW quality control generally and their springs more specifically.
But at the same time HW have taken a huge stride forward with their first non-wooden stock. I'm now waiting for a thumb hole laminate.....
Take care (ful aim),

A plastic/composite stock can be heavier than a wood stock. It just depends on what they make the composite stock out of and the mix.
My Daisy 953 is significantly heavier than my 853. Same action, composite vs wood stock.

It appears to be a type of Electroless Nickel Deposition. A process used alot in industrial and aircraft applications for corrosion resistance and base material protection. It can be ground, polished and worked within limits and within it's thickness range (typically .005" to .0015" thick). Also very hard/tough compared to typical unplated gun steel surfaces.
The UK guys should get their quality issues in an email to Mr. Weihrauch, he does look at emails.
