Title: UPGRADING MY GAMO URBAN
Post by: MB on August 21, 2018, 08:17:38 PM
Many of you know that the Urban is a sweet little shooter, my problem is I always wan't to make things a little sweeter...

SILENCING
I was not happy with the cheap attempt at silencing my Urban that in my opinion did not do much for the gun...Since I do not have a reliable gunsmith where I live that could cut, thread ½ unf and crown...I was left with little option, so  I removed the stock moderator myself, this was not easy and required some dedicated time with a Dremel...After I removed it I found a weird thread and a thinner end of barrel section...I decided to cut the barrel down by about ¾ inch...I then proceeded to epoxy in place 2 carbon fiber sleeves (I needed 2 to match the correct OD of the barrel, this now gave me one continuous OD / length to work with...I then re-crowned the barrel and then added a carbon fiber sleeve to the barrel , this allowed me to slide on a ½ UNF slide on 16MM silencer adaptor...Surgery went well and accuracy has improved, groups are a little tighter...All I am awaiting now is my Huggett...

STOCK
I was not happy with the plastic stock that was slippery in a high heat and humid environment and lacked Character...So I got some Fusion Plastic Primer and primed the entire stock...This was followed up by 2 coats of Krylon “Make It Stone” in grey...The stock was great had more feel to it and was very grippy, no slipping...I decided to then use a black Krylon Protective Enamel to paint the camo patterns using palmetto fronds... This finish really gives the stock the textured feel I was looking for, the Krylon Make It Stone has been used successfully on Powder Burners...

I think its came out great as a first attempt and makes the gun look completely different, this added with the CDT trigger, Alteros Regulator, Carbon Fiber Sleeve and finally a Huggett on the end and believe I have one unique and sweet Urban...

Looks good, Mike! Looking forward to see the Huggett on there.

I've actually grown accustomed to that melon on the end of my Urban.

Looks great! I'll be glad to get my put back together, hopefully before the weekend. They are great shooting guns.

How many shots are you getting on the reg and at what velocity? I've been thinking of adding a Huma to mine, I shoot it low power and low pressure.

When you cut the end of the barrel , I believe you cut of the choke barrel😳 maybe someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

Really nice Mike. I'm still happy with mine in the stock form. I did pick up a CDT trigger but I havn't installed it yet. I put the longer screw in and it made quite a difference.
Great paint scheme.
