Title: I don't mind them making a profit......but SERIOUSLY?????....
Post by: Kmanca1 on August 21, 2018, 12:51:35 PM
I recently purchased a certified-pre-owned Evanix REX  .357.   I purchased it at a ridiculously cheap price. So I have room to "play" with it.  ;)

When I got it home, cleaned and fired it and then my little ol' brain started to cogitate.
"What if..." I wondered, "the bottle from the Evanix BA/Gamo TC35 will just screw right on there?"
THAT would be cool, right?   Turn a '10 shot' gun into a '40 shot' gun with a simple add-on.

So I fired off a note to the expert on these guns - Rick Eutsler.
"Hey Rick," I asked, "is it possible...?"
He responded right back and said - yes it was possible.   The REX platform is the same for all those guns, so a bottle would fit right in.

WONDERFUL!   Right?   Well maybe not.

Now the question is, where do I find an Evanix bottle/regulator to buy.
The answer is --- nowhere.

I fired a request off to......a well-known-national-supplier of air-goodies, and got just the answer I expected.
"Huh???"

Then....
Now, everyone knows that old saying.   Never, NEVER, NEVER take your car to the dealership, to buy parts or have work done-- if you can help it.   They will take you hard and fast and not even offer Vaseline.
But what else could I do?   I sighed and went directly to Evanix.

I explained my situation, in an email to "Mr. Evanix".   I just bought this USED REX.....I want to...... Can you help?
The answer I got??????
"You should have bought the BA to begin with."

Well......Alrighty then.
Now, I confess, I'm not an expert on international business, and I have no clue as to the politeness-protocals of the asian world.   It sounded kind of rude to me, but I decided to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
I answered him back --- "Well, thank you for that advice, but it really doesn't help with the initial question. ...  What I'd like to know is, Do you have parts?"

After two more emails, "Mr. Evanix" finally relented and said......he would agree to sell me the bottle assembly THIS TIME.....as if it was a terrible imposition and he was doing me this HUGE favor.
Then he told me the price.

For the carbon bottle......the regulator......and the molded plastic stock-sleeve----- and shipping---I'd have the privilege of paying just under $500!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmm. :o :o :o :o

I think I'll leave the REX  just.....like.....it......is.

Ouch would have expected it to be expensive wouldn't have guessed that high though.
That's one of the biggest reason I sell and repair Crosman/Benjamin rifles, they are almost the only
air rifle manufacture to offer easy and affordable parts support.

I suspect that price was less about profits & more of an indirect way to deter you.
When you are used to wholesaling hundreds or thousands of whole units weekly, retailing one or two small parts to the public a few random customers is not worth the effort to some ppl

Well that's one company that will most likely never get my business.

Yeah, that was my thought too.   Oh well, it was worth a try.
I Still think it's a good idea....Maybe I can figure out another way 'round the bush.

I think that Manny and Knifemaker buy parts from Pyramid Air, but you must ask for the right person.
Post the question with Rainstorm in the title, perhaps they will respond.

Don't take no for an answer and find out if someone in China who already makes similar bottle assembly will be willing to make it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Just a brainstorming idea.

Um... Does anyone even sell the BA version in the States?  I've only seen the smaller reservoir version.  A few shops have advertised the BA, but I've never seen them sold...

Evanix worked a deal with Gamo.   It's here in the states as the Gamo TC35.

Give PA a call after 1 pm their time, and ask for service. I think it is #5 on the menu. Ask for Stacey or the boss, Boris. They are Airventuri. Not PA, but their shop is there. ;) 8)

(AirVenturi now owns PA)

P.S., At least you got an answer from Evanix. I've emailed them three times over the last 6 month, and crickets!  NADA!
