Title: Valve stem closing force as a %

Bob/Lloyd what formula do you use to determine closing force of just the valve stem and closing force percentage of just the valve stem?

The closing force of the valve stem is the stem area times the pressure.... For a 1/8" stem at 3000 psi it would be (0.125 x 0.125) xPI/4 x 3000 = 0.0123 sq.in. x 3000 psi = 37 lbs....

Thats substantial! Im working on a stemless valve so I can remove the 37lbs of closing force and the area in the throat the stem takes up.
