Title: QB58 .177 Oh Yeah!
Post by: airsenal on August 18, 2018, 01:42:36 AM
Purchased one already tweaked, tuned and carbinized (OAL 35") with UTG 4x32 AO/MD scope and medium double strap rings. Also Charlie's trigger modded/installed.
Pea size 5 shot groups with CPLs 7.9 gr. 745 fps MV, JSB RS 7.33 gr. 780 fps MV and JSB lite 8.44 gr. 730 fps MV. That's at 50'. Added a MB so now OAL is 36.5".
Love this kinda "baby D48" or Webley 'Trackerish' "Jack in the box" rifle   ;D

Congrats Charlie! I too own a QB-58 but mine's in .22.
Lovely gun that you don't see very often.
I had a devil of a time learning mines favorite pellet and hold but am so glad I stuck with it.
Sounds like you got a nice Hot-rodded one.
You got 25 posts now so you should be able to post pics. Would like to see yours.

No 58 but I got a stock 57 in .177. It's kind of an ugly duck but that's what makes it special to me. Break it down and put it in the case and it looks like I'm on a secret KGB mission.

Scott when reading up and refreshing my mind on these little Chinese wonders I read about your problems and I was thinking maybe the pellets were clipping off and on
the muzzle brake - remember the first time I had that happening and it drove me wacko until I discovered it!
I tinkered, tuned, chopped, screwed up several or probably a dozen or so of various Chinese side-levers, under-levers and a few pumpers 15 or more years ago. Sold
and gave 'em all away. Threw a couple away! LOL Kinda wished  I'd kept a couple. By the time I was paying attention and thinking "man those QB/TF 58s look good"
I couldn't find one and walked on....Saw this one on AA (Brad's) classifieds and jumped  ;D It's weird - I own and have owned top of the heap springer/rammers yet
these lower end jobs still please me when they deliver the goods  ;D

Hi Charley,
I haven't seen you post for a while; your writing style is kinda easy to spot.
Hope you're well and look forward to more of your stuff.
I imagine that you're still looking for that air pistol that is "just right", LOL.

Hi Jeff - yep still haven't found it but have been playing with a couple of 'gassers' (Colt Python 10 shot and S & W MP 45 8 shot), a P3 .177 and a just scored Diana LP8 in the skinny caliber  ;D It'd be easier if I included PCP - say a Steyr tweaked up or something LOL he he he  Wish Weihrauch would make a 2" longer with say 3/16" wider
compression tube HW45 all beefed up to  deliver 7.5 - 8 FPE in .22. Europe needs to stop jackin' around and up them joules!  ;)
