Would also like to recast the lead

You are going to get several replies and ideas. Here is my solution for my .177, .22, and .25 air rifles.
Get a bag (or two depending on how big and deep you need the target to be) of rubber mulch from the local big box store.
Black Rubber Mulch (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Rubberific-0-8-cu-ft-Black-Rubber-Mulch/4566498)
Pick up a container to hold the mulch, cut out the target area (may not be necessary if your guns are all powerful enough), duct tape the target area so the mulch doesn't fall out, attach clips to hold the targets, set up and use.
Here are some pictures of mine:

I need to top this one off.

You can acquire or build as deep of a container as you need based on your needs. My bucket system stops my .25 caliber Marauder.
Good Luck,
Cody
Edit: Have read that people are able to pull lead out of this kind of system to recast, but have not tried that myself.

+1 for this setup. When you want to recast get a bucket half full of water and dump in the mulch with pellets. The pellets will sink and the mulch will float. I've read where this setup will stop a 9mm handgun.
-
Rubberized mulch sinks as well as the pellets, but you can still separate the two. I just use a cardboard box filled with the mulch and use duct tape to repair the box. Keep in mind that the mulch works great at stopping bullets but you need to shake the box up occasionally or the bullets will bore a hole though and exit out the back. I just got about 7 lbs of lead out of mine without too much effort and have already recast about half of it.
-
You could build a nice backstop box with the plywood you have and fill it with rubber mulch. I built one that holds 4 bags of rubber mulch.

i dont know how they do it.... ;), but our local shoot'n range sells all there 'dirty lead'
to handgun and rifle pb customers for recasting at a good profit.
and they clean them some-how..... ???
;)

I use a plastic bin with lid from Home Depot, fill it with rubber mulch and then wrap it with duct tape. You can then attach targets or a pizza box to the front of the bin and depending on how deep it is, you can stop powder burners.

I was using a Target for bows but after a short bit they blow threw that's why I'm looking for other ideas

I like the rubber multch idea I didn't know where to get it at though

I went to walmart a few weeks ago and they were sold out, it does get pricey buying online with shipping sometimes.

rubber mulch anywhere around here is HIGH !!! the price you see online is cheaper.
i studied that system last fall, and then turned back to dirt backstop and steel targets.
but i mostly hunt, so it kinda dont matter as i use old lead jacketed power cable to cast my big bore bullets... ;D

Mark,
I bought one of these for use outside:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bullet-trap-for-use-with-22-thru-44-magnum-/302847406724?hash=item46831cb284 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bullet-trap-for-use-with-22-thru-44-magnum-/302847406724?hash=item46831cb284)
It will stop a 44 magnum from a pistol. It's a little pricey but I don't have the space for a dirt berm or the dirt for that matter lol.
I do use a rubber mulch trap indoors but I'm getting a little worried about the lead dust and exposure. But that's a topic for another thread.
Thanks,
Taso

Wally World doesn't always have it. Lowes and Home Depot here always has in stock.
The Rubber Mulch at Lowes is of two types. Thick and thin. Thick, although harder, will get pushed into tunnes with repeated shooting. Fill with both thick (coarse) and thin (fine) mulch, and it will work well. I shoot both pellets and my 200 fpe .257 into it. Never a pass thru in years of using this system.
I recover lead from it, and cast a LOT of bullets. Makes it much cheaper than shooting any type of store bought pellets. ;) ;D 8)
I use 5 gal. buckets and lids from lowes for the containers, and place a T-6 7075 alu. plate in the base just in case. (It is used in the doors of helicopters for armor).

I used old magazines and phone books in my basement behind my Chrono for tuning indoors with a bow target behind that . When I moved I didn't bring any of the old magazines with and I want something that will with stand the weather and can be moved from indoor to outdoor . Rubber multch is looking like it will work good

Design: To {Capture} rounds of to 7.62 and 5.56 mm x 45MM without ricochet or splatter http://www.precisionairgunsandsupplies.com/product_p/12x12ballisticrubbertile.htm (http://www.precisionairgunsandsupplies.com/product_p/12x12ballisticrubbertile.htm) Best $22.00 you can spend,
Not for low power Co2 guns however Lots of info online and can be bought elsewhere as well, That will take 1000's of rounds of PB rounds, I dought you could wear it out with with pellets ;)

This is what I use in my 4 home made traps. https://www.lowes.com/pd/RePlay-0-8-cu-ft-Brown-Rubber-Playground-Mulch/3199701?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-LawnGarden-_-MulchAndStone-_-3199701:RePlay&CAWELAID=&kpid=3199701&CAGPSPN=pla&store_code=2862&k_clickID=9c48db5e-c080-4ae9-a339-e01dc3bda566&gclid=CjwKCAjwh9_bBRA_EiwApObaODNvTSDflVtvPpzaJ-5XbRTjJFrsqvVuzZ_ZHPuYvEfvyH9h12hSrBoCRRIQAvD_BwE (https://www.lowes.com/pd/RePlay-0-8-cu-ft-Brown-Rubber-Playground-Mulch/3199701?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-LawnGarden-_-MulchAndStone-_-3199701:RePlay&CAWELAID=&kpid=3199701&CAGPSPN=pla&store_code=2862&k_clickID=9c48db5e-c080-4ae9-a339-e01dc3bda566&gclid=CjwKCAjwh9_bBRA_EiwApObaODNvTSDflVtvPpzaJ-5XbRTjJFrsqvVuzZ_ZHPuYvEfvyH9h12hSrBoCRRIQAvD_BwE)
I just picked up a bag 3 days ago at my local Lowes. They had a pallet of it in the garden center section.
I've shot this one as close as 10M with a .30 88fpe air rifle and the pellets only penetrated 6" and less. It has 12" thick mulch and is heavy. I just replaced some of the mulch with 2" thick foam to lighten it. I made it out of scrap pieces of 3/4" plywood.

Portable from garage to range and easily adjusted to desired range ;D The center target is the one pictured in my previous post and the 2 end ones are customized Do All Outdoors traps.

I have 97 pounds of lead in a plastic bucket. It's attached to a bar with a rope and pulley - I use it for pull-downs as otherwise it's just sitting around - I don't cast anything and will sell it to a scrap dealer or home casting shooter some day. Anyway, I have this bucket of rather clean lead from I don't know how many tens of thousands of shots, mostly from when I was training seriously and competing in 10 metre air pistol. And most of these .177" pellets (and quite a few in .22" from testing various tunings of my other airguns) were stopped by duct seal. Here's an example of that - a 5lb bag for $17:
https://www.cesco.com/Ideal-31-605-Ideal-31-605-Duct-Seal-Compound-5-lb-Dark-Gray-Putty/p1931249 (https://www.cesco.com/Ideal-31-605-Ideal-31-605-Duct-Seal-Compound-5-lb-Dark-Gray-Putty/p1931249)
You can grab some in the electrical section at any Home Depot too, in 1lb blocks. This stuff will stop anything if it's thick enough. Not 'easy' to pull the lead out, but once you've shot it full of lead the metal comes out as one big piece, the duct seal having been splatted out of the way and the lead smearing together very cleanly. 5lbs hammered into a wooden box a foot square should be plenty for your big bore. Go to 10lbs if you're not sure, and have an inch or two of plywood for the back of the box. I've shot .22lr into it - only subsonic up to 1050fps - and have seen that stopped in 2" thick of new duct seal, and in less than 1" once the stuff is thoroughly leaded up in the bullseye area. It's not like any other sort of putty or clay. Has weird properties when impacted. A normal pellet gun such as a kid might shoot will have pellets stopped by new duct seal at about 1/2 the pellet length penetration. Modelling clay won't stop such a pellet in less than an inch. Pottery clay might need two inches.

My trap is a plywood box filled 18" deep with rubber mulch. It will stop a +P+ 9MM, so I'm pretty sure it will stop just about any airgun slug or pellet.
-
I'll make a ply wood box out of 3/4 inch and fill it with either duct seal or rubber mulch and it should stop my air guns easy enough probably 18 inches by 18 inches would be big enough

Mine is 24" deep. Will stop 69gr and 80gr .223 at 50 yards.
Super-sonic 55gr soft points leave little more than a jacket, in just a few inches. They 'silver' the rubber chunks. Sub-sonic only smash the exposed lead on the nose.
The hollow point boat-tail match bullets go a good bit deeper and leave some lead in the mangled jacket...

This is what i have been using.
