Title: Increase Pressure in a Hatsan Mod 25 Supercharger Vortex Pistol?
Post by: Whirligig on August 10, 2018, 11:25:54 AM
I notice that my Hatsan Mod 25 Supercharger Vortex (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/hatsan-model-25-supercharger-vortex-air-pistol?m=3419) air pistol shoots at a significantly lower FPE than my spring-powered versions. I've read that this is commonplace/normal.

Is it possible to increase the pressure in the gas ram in this pistol?

If so, how can it be done?

Thanks,

-Whirly

You'd need to take the Gas Spring out of the Gun first.
Then a pump and a Hatsan fill probe is needed.
I've never had the Vortex version and only guess that they can be pumped up like the other Vortex Guns.

Just takes a tear down of the gun, a high pressure hand pump and a Hatsan fill probe. If memory serves from another post on this, the rams in the pistols should be filled to 100 bar. It also works on their air rifles.

You'll also need one of these to connect that fill probe to the air line:

Does anyone out there have the necessary hardware, experience, and expertise to do this?

I just recharged mine last week and you don’t need to remove the ram from the pistol just the stock. After removing the stock you will see the fill port at the back of the ram. There are access holes drilled into the compression tube for the fill port and the degassing screw. You will need a hand pump and a Hatsan fill probe. Insert prope and pump up to 100 bar. Put stock back on and your done.

Although I have everything and I've done it with their gas rammed rifles, I've never owned any of their pistols or even worked on one for anyone and would be a lot leery of saying yes and risking screwing up your pistol.

This weekend when I get time I will post pics and show you step by step how it is done. You can get the fill probe and pump from amazon for about 70 bucks. Very simple to do!!

What pump and fill probe should I buy?

Can I increase the pressure past 100 bar to get a little more power out of the gun?

If so, what is a safe pressure to go up to?

Yosoo high pressure hand pump $57  (amazon)
Air venturi quick disconnect 1/8 bspp  $14 (amazon)
Hatsan fill probe  19.99(hatsan web site)
You can spend as much as you want on a hand pump.I just got the cheapest one I could find.
As far as the air pressure goes Hatsan says optimal air pressure is 100 bar.
As near as I can tell mine only had about 70 bar. After I put in 100 bar the cocking effort was somewhat stouter and velocity incressed to just under 700 f.p.s. shooting a JSB 7.33 grains and 735 f.p.s. with 6.9 grains. I would not even think about going over 100 bar myself as it will make it harder to cock with a harsher shot cycle.

Thanks again!

Is this quick disconnect (http://a.co/anAUljf) the right one, or do I need the one with a male connector?

Also, is this the fill probe (https://hatsanusa.com/products/pcp-fill-probe) you mention?

Yes both are correct. The quick disconnect screws to the fill probe.

The first thing you must do is remove the three stock screws you have one on each side and one in the bottom rear. Then remove the stock. locate the fill port and install the fill probe. The fill probe connects to the hand pump connector. Then pump to 10 mpa/100 bar. Remove fill probe and put stock back on. its that simple. There is a degassing screw that releases the pressure on the ram if you ever need to remove the ram its a lot faster that messing with a spring compressor. Make sure you follow the directions on your hand pump instructions. hope this helps!!

Any hand pump will do. I use one of the inexpensive ones from China bought on eBay that are discussed here on GTA. You will also need the Hatsan fill probe and the foster adapter to connect it to the pump. I had one for a flashpup already. I learned the pistons could be adjusted here on GTA. I’ll see if I can find the thread.

Thanks!

Can anyone recommend specific pumps, fill probes, and foster adapters and the best place to buy them from online?

I knew that I had asked this question before. (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=146811.0)

Sorry to repeat it. The old noggin' isn't what it should be.

So, I'd need the following?

1 QTY Air Venturi Male Quick-Disconnect, 1/8 BSPP Female Threads, Steel, Rated to 5000 PSI, Incl. Delrin Seal (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M37FYA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3VW7SN5AUIBC8&psc=1)  at 10.99+ $6.02 shipping

1 QTY PCP Fill Probe (https://hatsanairgunsusa.com/product/pcp-fill-probe/) at $22.95 + $5.00 shipping OUT OF STOCK

1 QTY Air Venturi Replacement Probe, Fits Select Kral Arms, Evanix, Hatsan Guns (https://www.amazon.com/Air-Venturi-Replacement-Select-Evanix/dp/B006CLS6IO) at $21.99 + $6.04 shipping

1 QTY 4500Psi Paintball High Pressure PCP Hand Air Pump (https://smile.amazon.com/UAUS-4500Psi-Paintball-Pressure-Hunting/dp/B07QVPFQCL/ref=sr_1_22) at $63.49 + Free Shipping

Total cost = $108.25

Total cost = $108.53

Am I missing anything?

Thanks,

Ya looks about right. Just make sure the probe will fit a mod 25.
I would not go over 100 bar on the ram. I filled mine to 120 and had trouble with the piston grinding on the compression tube when cocking. I rectified it by installing piston buttons. Keep in mind that the ram is only rated at 100 bar.

Thank you!

Based on your feedback, I'm reconsidering my "need" to increase the pressure on this pistol.

I really don't want to spend $100 only to damage a currently nice-shooting airgun.

It's that itch to tinker that sometimes come back to bite me that I need to keep under control.

That same setup will work for any of the Hatsan gas rams. I actually had it all quite awhile before buying my first PCP and had already tinkered with gas rams in both an Edge and  Model 95 before buying my Galatian. Airnut nailed the biggest concern, which is don't exceed the recommended Bar for the ram. You may also be able to find 4500psi hand pumps for less on Ebay and likely save yourself another $10-$15.

If it aint broke don't fix it!!
I learned a long time ago that most mods that you make more often than not comes at a cost.
