Thank you sir!!
hey,
thank you very much!
i would donate 1$ for such a great work :)
Hey, amazing work on this app! (Sorry, calling it sheet would be doing it a disservice!) Could you explain the Avg. lbs/Shot? Is that referring to PSI used per shot? I assume that it closely tied with your efficiency number. Is a higher efficiency number better? Sorry for noob questions and feel free to kick me if I missed these details in docs (i.e. RTFM).
Thank you for doing this (and sharing)!
I've often wished for a "goal seeking" spreadsheet where you could enter the shot string, a desired maximum ES and the sheet would find and highlight the area of the shot string that meets that goal.
No Shot 28.
It skips from 27 to 29 in Chart 1...

Thanks, I'll look at that. Check your PSI inputs. Should be one start on the first shot and an ending PSI on the last shot. Let me know.

Yeah, I hadn't input the pressure data yet.
Thanks for that spreadsheet!! I'm not an expert with Excel at all, but I can certainly change pellet weights and fps, lol! I also changed the starting and ending psi, but the efficiency won't work for me. What am I forgetting/missing? Even without the efficiency, it is majorly helpful keeping tunes under 4% and 2%!
Putting a zero in for the regulator section did the trick! Now my efficiency is showing :D Thanks again Keith!
how can we download the spread sheet to android phone?

Wow! That's some nice power out a .22.
Tip, go to view and uncheck formula and headings for more space for the charts.

Oh the little Flash has more oomph in the little tank after I got my paws on it. I call the one below, the piggy noggin tune, lol. It does okay for a $200 gun with some elbow grease in it ;) You're right, unchecking that formula in view helps too! This spreadsheet is so great :D Very useful!!
thanks keithhow can we download the spread sheet to android phone?
These small devices don't have the power to run full Excel with VBA/macros as far as I know. Even Google can't handle it. Need a PC with big screen to appreciate it.
Keith: Could you put the download link to your signature? I am sure a lot more people will learn about it. Thanks
Very cool!
Any chance you could add Joules to ft/lb to that tool?
My little chronograph only reads out Joules...

I would love to down load this app,
have tried several times, with no such luck, which is par for me.
Tia,
Don
Holy Snack Bar Keith,
That is an Outstanding app, Thank you,
Now do you have an app that will shoot the the AR with precision accuracy, ;) LOL
Still figuring/working out why,
I can not get your app to down load, using MS/Excell/Windows/Google on my plastic box etc.
Tia,
Don
This is awesome! Thank you! I used this to compare shot strings for my new BullBoss. I have 2 tanks, one regulated, one unregulated. This gives me a very visual baseline for each. Now to try and figure out where to go from here!
It's down right humbling to see you AG rocket scientists go. :o
Keith, is there a way to adjust the scale of the axis that displays FPS in the charts? Chart 1 is 100 to 1000 and shows a nice linear line graph, charts 2 & 3 are only about 100 points apart so he resulting graph appears to be all over the place even though the Standard Deviation is less than it is in chart 1. It would be great if all 3 graphs used the same 100 to 1000 scale.
Also, under the conversions, could you add a cubic inch to cubic centimeter converter? This is becoming a really awesome tool! Thank you for sharing and continuing to update and improve it!
Keith, the drop down for the Chart Axis isn't working for me. It may be because I'm using a Mac and the Mac version of Excel. Is there a way you can set the default for all 3 charts to the same as Chart 1 when you do the next revision? That may fix it for me since I probably won't change it from that setting anyway. Thanks for adding the ci to cc converter!

Hmmm, I may have to try downloading it again and pay more attention when it opens! Thanks...
UPDATE: Well, downloaded it again and paid attention this time. I only received one pop-up, and it said I had to open it as read-only due to compatibility issues! I'm using version 16.16.2 of Excel for Mac. I suspect it's the "for Mac" part that's causing the problem!
Yes, that's a Mac thing not supporting macros. Not much I can do for you there because if that's the case, there is a lot of unsupported code running in the background besides the chart pulldown. I take it you are unable to send strings from the "Saved Strings" to the charts also?
I haven't had a chance to play with this version of the spreadsheet but in previous versions, I was able to open as read-only, save as a new document, then open the new document to get everything working in Excel on my Mac. Like I said, I have not tried it with this version yet so YMMV. Still worth a shot.
great software!! it will be perfect to have android apk like this..ive never use my laptop on bench and i have to admit it s not userfriendly
great software!! it will be perfect to have android apk like this..ive never use my laptop on bench and i have to admit it s not userfriendlyIt works just fine if you install Microsoft Excel. It takes a few seconds to find everything, but it works great.
Great work Keith. Lots attention to the details. Thanks. You are well on track going from a shooter to a developer. ;D
....One thing for sure is that it is a one of a kind spreadsheet. I'm embarrassed to share how long it took me to figure out Excel to make this. I did start from scratch. I'll just say it took awhile.

Holy crapoli Keith. It sounded like this was your learning experience in Excel?!?! Great job!!!! ...and thanks for sharing.

Oh My Goodness!
Don't tell me that.
Now I'm going to feel like I have to develop that "goal seeking", "find the best part of the shot string" spreadsheet and I don't know what I need to know to do it!
The good news is that there's one already available that shows the best part of the string ...
triggertreat, I got an error message in your spreadsheet today. See below photos.
I have tried to download the spreadsheet/tutorial and
get a blank screen. Anybody.........??
Ron
hey,
thank you very much!
i would donate 1$ for such a great work :)
Thank you very much! I would much rather you give that donation to someone in need or place in a Church offering plate where it would do the most good. The free spreadsheet is my way of giving back to the GTA which has given so much to me.
triggertreat, your spreadsheet just cost me $149.95! ;D
I was trying to use it in LibreOffice and none of the functions worked.
Note to others here. LibreOffice, or any other MS Excel free application will not allow this fine spreadsheet to work!
Yes, I purchased MS Office just to use this excellent spreadsheet that you were so generous to share with this great community.
THANK YOU!
triggertreat,
I downloaded your excellent spreadsheet yesterday. It works great with one exception. The average fps line on charts 2 and 3 don't show the average fps value. For the title on these lines I get "[CELLRANGE]". On chart 1 the value does show correctly. I am using Windows 10 and Excel 2007. Maybe a compatibility issue?
Ken
I have a stupid question: What if I get one (or couple) chrony measurement that comes up as an error. How do I enter this into the spread sheet.
I ask this question because my chrony is somewhat temperamental.
Thank you!
it's a bit complicated for me, I still can not enter my data, and I only see data that is already incorporated. :-[

I hope you can get it figured out. I am impressed with you having more than one language. I only do English, and not very well either.
All you really need to do is enter the velocity (in FPS) in the FPS column. Enter the pellet weight (in grains) and the start and stop pressures (in PSI). This will give you a graph display. Put in your HPA and plenum (if regulated) volumes (in PSI) to get the efficiency reading if you want that info. Use the sample strings that are included in the app to help you get over the hump.

I created a tutorial video showing how to use the free rev 05 spreadsheet. Don't laugh as it's my first time doing this sorta thing. You can download the file or just play it from the linked site.
Hopefully it will answer some of the questions you may have on its use.

I vote for making it a sticky.Agreed!!!
I've been enjoying the awesomeness of the spreadsheet!
But I'm wondering if there is a way to input the shot velocities in meters per second and then toggle the whole string over to fps.
My new Chinese wifi enabled barrel mounted chrony can only display the data in m/s, on the wifi device.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32872171216.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dXTsOf3 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32872171216.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dXTsOf3)
The data can be displayed on the Chrony in fps, but that defeats the usefulness of viewing the data on my tablet along with the spreadsheet.
Duh. I can just make my own sheet easy enough! [=3.28084*A2]
Anybody. know of a way to force the data copied from the output field to round to the nearest single decimal place? I can make my own sheet display one decimal, but the copied data goes to five places when I paste it to Triggertreat's sheet.
Ah Rev. 6! That's the ticket! Where can we get that!? Could you make it a good deal longer than 20 rows too? I don't think I'd ever shoot that many but my Chrony can record 120 entries...
I just discovered Paste Special -> Values and Number Formatting That's carries over the format of the cell in the sheet I created myself.
I was using Paste Special -> Values which was pulling over the whole calculated conversion to several decimal places regardless of the formatting of the cell.
After years of use, let it be known this Spread sheet is the bombness, the most dopest, the most bestest, the most off the chainest tool ever developed let alone freely shared!
THANK YOU TRIGGERTREAT!
<We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming in progress>

I'll post it up once finished. It will support 185 shots just like the rest of the spreadsheet.
So the numbers display correctly in the Saved String cells. But they don't once they get sent to the Chart.
And I don't get the option to paste as Text when I choose Paste Special...
I'm copying the text from the conversion chart. With Right click + Copy.
Then I Right Click, Paste Special -> Values and Number Formats into one of the Saved Strings. It looks fine in the Saved String. No decimal numbers visible.
Then I click a colored block and the data gets sent to the corresponding Chart and it updates. The suppressed decimal numbers are now visible in the graphs.
I'm running a new Win 10 PC with Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus.
Are you able to see the attachments from my earlier post?
PERFECT! Did you have to suppress the decimals in the graphs?
i get 2 error messages when opening or loading the sheet in Libre Office.Try using Windows and Excel.
The following external file could not be loaded. Data linked from this file did not get updated.
file:///C:/Backups/Air Gun/Shot String Analyzer v30.5.xlsm

And also something about:
Warning loading document Free Spreadsheet Rev 06 3-3-2020.xlsm:

Thank you so very much for that spreadsheet. That is one of the most useful tool I have seen.
Thank you
wonderful! It does if you have an Excel compatible app. Microsoft Office is available for free on Android plus several others.
so pitty it doesn t exist on mobile phone android
Again, a great big Thank You!! Triggertreat. All your efforts are much appreciated. Glad I found your new V6.0
Be safe and stay well,

Sorry you are not enjoying the Free Spreadsheet. Make sure you are running the app in Windows 10 and using Excel 2019 for best use of the app. Older revisions/versions can cause slight issues, blame Excel. I am not sure what you are running the app on, but maybe download the app again. I just downloaded the app and it looks fine to me just looking at it briefly in that particular tab you are referring to as shown in the attached image. You should be seeing an axis on both sides for each string (see attached image). What about the rest of the app? There are lots of other useful features, what about those tabs?

Hi there, thanks for sharing your work with fellow pcp airgun enthusiasts. Very much appreciated! I didn't know there are numbers on both sides of the graph at the y-axis. Now it all makes sense! However, is there a way to change the numbers for the y-axis so both sides are the same? If both sides are different, like what you showed in your attachment, it's like comparing apples to oranges because both are at different scale. I think it's easier to tune if both numbers on both y-axis are the same.
Great job! Thank you for the hard work and sharing the app.
Just downloaded the latest version to my new laptop. I plan on playing with it during the next couple of weeks. For some reason I was never able to download to my old puter ::) :D

Good luck. There is a tab called notes to help you along. It's a little busy with notes as I like to talk too much. Be sure to also watch the tutorial video as well to help familiarize yourself more with it without a bunch of reading. Don't judge though, lol. It was my first ever video and was done right after an eight hour drive. I just wanted to get it done.
i keep getting this error all the time on excel, and energy calculation doesnīt work any tips?
just downloaded it, trigger
thank you
Thank you! Really impressive work.

Yes, you can enter a string manually or edit an existing string that was sent over from the Saved Strings tab. When doing this realize this manually entered string will be overwritten and lost when sending a different string from the Saved Strings tabs. Watching the tutorial video can help to get you more familiar with the app.

Yes, just enter your new values into the FPS column on the graph page. You can hit the "clear all" button to clear out the old string and to get back to the default settings before you enter in a new string manually. Or you can just select all in the FPS column then right click and hit clear all to enter in a new string manually.

Cool beans! Those custom axis settings can fool you sometimes when switching from string to string, but I have found this feature to come in handy at times to move a string up/down on the graph for better viewing instead of just being limited to Excel's automatic axis selection. You can always select the "Auto exec" to go back to Excels automatic axis selection.

itīs precisely the auto setting that causes it, the previous issue was also solved by going into settings and exchanging "." and ","

I have no idea what you are referring to. It sounds like you may have a bad copy and need to download the new file I recently updated. I see no issues with the updated file. It could also be that you have an older version of Excel. Either way I am glad you have the issue resolved.

Yes, the y-axis can be configured either way and I went back and forth on which way would be best for the masses. I am not sure how the latest app axis is configured currently. Neither way is perfect depending on what strings are being compared. I have not focused on this app in quite some time now as most have new gadgets they use now for their air guns and data.

Of course!
New expensive gadgets, (some not fully vetted) will always entice folks away from the properly working, free, alternative
Thanks, triggertreat, for a truly functional tool that has served me well for a few years
Thank you!
Funny thing. Last week I was going through some old files and found this sheet.
Haven't used it in quite a while and told myself I should again...
This will not be the first time I have sung praises for @triggertreat's development of this file.
It is absolutely brilliant
I have created files for every gun I own
What I would like to try is importing data from one file (let's say Gun A) into an existing file (Gun B) in order to compare the 2 guns side by side
Logic says it should work
But then again, logic can be illogical
Edward
I figured it out.
Yeah.. awesome tool.
Thanks Keith.
Thanks KeithI figured it out.

Thanks Keith.
Awesome! Now strings are stored forever and can be recalled or compared at any time to any of the three graphs, unless deleted. Just rename the file for different guns or to save twenty more additional shot strings. Don't forget the conversions tab. Enjoy.
