Title: Berretta PX4 Storm gun or16 stick magazines not firing properly?
Post by: gage3780 on August 02, 2018, 05:59:04 PM
I recently did a stupid thing and sprayed my plastic 16 shot Beretta Storm mags with CRC Silicone spray.  It totally locked up the wheels from spinning. I reread the label and it said NOT TO USE ON PLASTIC.  I soaked them in 91% isopropyl Alcohol that loosened them up.  But the gun wont fire the pellets consistently. I ordered 2 new mags from Pyramyd and they wouldnt fire at all.  I broke the gun down and check everything.  The barrel and mag pellet holes lined up.  I put one pellet in each mag and they rotated the number of times I pressed the trigger.  But when I put the mag in the gun with a full Co2 cylinder, it fires erratically. One side will fire all and the other might fire a few or none at all.  I checked all 5 mags I have, Same with all 5!

The barrel and the magazine are lined up with the mag in the gun. The slide and the hammer kicks back when I pull the trigger and fire it.  I'm at a loss at what could possibly be the problem and what to do.  I would appreciate any advise as to what to check or try before I consider sending the gun to Umarex for repair.  It's only about a year old dont know if its a problem with the gun or the mags. Looking more like the guns problem.

could the lube have slightly worn something plastic that rotates the clip ?    maybe warped it so as to not look bad, but funky working ?

I thought the same thing. I dont know if the part that moves the wheels is plastic or metal.  I have a parts diagram and theres lot of parts in there hooked up to the trigger.  I have to take it part all the way and look at the pieces.  The 2 new mags I bought didnt rotate and fire at all at first , so I'm thinking its the gun and not the magazine.  Gonna try again before I send it to Umarex. They're the only one I know that will check it out.

Are you shooting pellets or bbs. There different mags for each. If shooting pellets use wadcutters like RWS or H&N in them. Some brands fit to tight and will not exit the mag when fired. Make sure the pellets are pushed all the way through and flush with the face of the mag. Also make sure that the mag is completely pushed in and locked or it won't fire. This is my experience with the Umarex mags. Good luck.

I have been shooting wadcutter pellets from Crosman. The magazines will hold either pellets or bb's. Used to use Crosman hollow points and never had a problem with them. I was thinking maybe I got a bad batch, but doubt it.  I was going to try firing BB's and she if it does the same thing.  Thanks for replying with the information.

RWS and H&N pellets have softer lead than Crosman pellets. I don't shoot bbs because of the ricochet and most of my pistols are rifled barrels. I don't know how well they will shoot from the Umarex mag. On PA, in the question section of the pistol there might be some info that could help you.

It shot Umarex steel BB's pretty good  before. I prefer the pellets cause as you said BB's they can ricochet.  But I usually use pellets but was going through them pretty fast and the BB's are a lot cheaper. I appreciate your reply. I'll check PA, I sent a email to Umarex USA. I see if they respond and what they say.
