Title: Bulldog consistency
Post by: Ironman482 on July 25, 2018, 04:37:55 PM
I've got a modded bulldog that i want to get 4 -5 good high power shots per fill  after drilling barrel and valve to .295 and installing JSA's ss balanced vavle with nsa,s 110 slugs I'm getting 927-961-929 then it drops off to 889 and 829 for the last shot ,thats with the hs adjuster 2.5 turns in from flush with the back pf the receiver. Tried at 3 turns alittle faster for three shots then drops fast, I'm trying to stay above the new texas min. Of 215 fpe ,anyone have any pointers on how to make it more consistent?   PS I've got some 120 and 142 gr. NSA slugs ordered

What pressure are you filling to?  If only 3000, fill to 32 or 3400 and back the adjuster out until you like the power levels.  The 142's will put out a bunch more power also.  Regards, Tom

First thing would be to use heavier ammo and then find the fill and spring settings that would flatten out the ES you could also choke the TP down a bit if that doesn't get it all the way there.

I started at 3100psi and ended at 1600 , will wait for the 142gr to arrive and test at 3200, just want at least 3 good powe shots, of course if the hammer shows up before nov. It'll be a moot point, thanks for the advice travis and tom

That  927-961-929fps doesn't look all that bad to me.  Though I suppose 999-999-999fps would be better.  Regards, Tom

Old Pro,

How far in can we adjust the hammer spring supplied with the SS bulldog valve?

All the way down till it wont cock anymore. we are getting a slightly stiffer spring in also for the higher power demands.

If that's the same spring that came in mine it would still cock with the spring bottomed out.  So when it stops, don't keep turning.  Regards, Tom
