I have a discovery tube with the Gen 1 Marauder trigger and spacer. I can't decide on a Discovery Wood stock or the synthetic Maximus stock? I know the Maximus you have to do some cutting around the trigger but it's a lighter stock. Any one know roughly the weights between them?
Thanks

Most of the Disco stocks are pretty plain Jane. The synthetic one is definitely lighter and less prone to scratches. Having said that, there was a recent thread in this gate and some seem to feel there is too much flexibility in the synthetic stock for good accuracy. I’m not sure I agree. Let’s be realistic, unless you’re talking a really high end barrel with superb accuracy, my opinion is go synthetic.

The maximus syn stock is more sturdy than the Mrod syn stock. IMO, don't see where this stock is flexing. It is lighter and has good ergonomics. I would choose it over the wood disco stock.
It did need a minor mod to fit the Mrod trigger assy w/discoRus 3D printer trigger guard.

Thanks guys!!

Maxi stock does have a nicer shape...Disco wood has a kind of "fish belly" fore end.
MAxi stock is likely easier to work on to fit that M-Rod trigger....plastic is more friendly to a little hogging out where needed. BAsically, once you get the plastic stock to allow the trigger to fit, it won't need sealing as wood will.
Wood stocks are normally more easily scratched/dented, but also more easily refinished. Plastic stocks are harder to scratch or dent, but harder to cure when they get that way.
I'd likely go with a Maxi stock...I like the slimness of the fore end.

Have a .22 Max and would trade the plastic for a Disco stock any day... just can not stand it...but do... but take a look at the Remmy 512... it is the rifle I learned to shoot with as a kid and shot into my 20's... It will always feel most comfortable to me... plus I just can not stand the plastic schnabel... if you have a schnabel it just is wrong if it is not wood...It is like plastic tulips...just wrong... I also think that a wood stock quiets the sound of the shot cycle just a touch more...then there is if you say plastic schnabel stock three times while holding your rifle it is said it will be infested with haints...
but mostly yeah look at the Remmy stock and then the Disco stock and you will understand... well also look at some wood schnabel stocks and tell me a plastic version is not a travesty.. ;)
also dented scratched wood has character...do the same to plastic and it just looks ugg and more uugggg...

Wood is usually prettier, but I don't consider the wood stock on a Disco pretty, but a rather plain Jane. I like the look of the Maxi stock and it is very comfortable to shoulder, also less concerned with damage on a syn stock. Do you want a shooter or a safe queen?

To address the accuracy aspect of the Maximus, I shot some comparison groups this afternoon. The gun is sighted with the JSB 18.1. I shot a 5 shot group with them and a 5 shot group with the JSB 15.9. The photo speaks for itself. Same POA. This is at forty yards.

From the specs I read, the Max is 3oz lighter than the Disco. How much of that is stock I don't know but the difference doesn't seem much. I like the feel of the max way more and I like synthetic cause I'm sometimes kinda rough on things (just clumsy I guess :o).

I put a Boyds Evolution stock on my Maximus so I have the original stock alone.
I can try and get an exact weight today at work.
-
If you do find a way to beat the heck out of the syn stock, it was only about $18 from crosman.
-
Just weighed my Maxi stock.... 714g or 25.2oz

Anyone know how to remove the butt slippery pad?🤔

Anyone know how to remove the butt slippery pad?🤔
If I recall correctly, need to remove the sling stud near the butt pad.
-
I do like the maximus stock allthough its hollow an sounds it, if you take the rear sling swivel out you can take the butt pad off . I filled mine with spary foam helped with the hollow sound .
Was thinking mod it to hold somthen like a battery pack for night vision set .

I ended up ordering the Maximus stock. I will need to do some nodding for the Marauder trigger.
