Title: Does the Yong Heng fit on Marauder?
Post by: Marthor on July 12, 2018, 09:43:07 AM
Hi everyone

I have bought a Benjamin Marauder 0.177 2017 version (Great gun) and are now waiting to get a Yong Heng Compressor home. Can anyone confirm that The Hong Yeng hose fits directly on the Marauder or do i need some kind of adapter?

Would it be finejust to fill the maruader op directly from the compressor or do i need to get a 4500psi tank?

thanks

I bought a Vevor last night...and immediately zeroed in on the large OD of the fill fitting on the gun end of the pump's output hose.  Does its large OD prevent it from being able to properly click onto the full port of the Marauder?  I'd like to know as well.

I have the Vevor, another version/clone of the Yong Heng, however, all of them appear to come equipped with the "Foster" type connection on the end of a water/oil filter separator. It fits directly on the Marauder with my Vevor, so, I beleive it should fit no problem.

And yes, you can fill the gun directly from the pump. In fact, it may be the preferred way of doing it, because it only takes a minute or so to fill, and the pump is only run at short intervals, never allowing it to get overheated. Versus filling a large tank and having to run the pump for an extended period of time, generating more heat and wear on the secong stage piston seal, its "achilles heel".

Regards.

The air filter may be in the way and not allow it to fit under the barrel to the fill port. The filter housing is 33.86mm OD and the end of the foster fitting is 25mm away from the end of the filter. If it did not fit a hose could be added to the end of the filter to make it able to reach the maunder fill port. The filter housing is threaded m10 1.

If the large filter/fitting on the end of the pump hose is a problem fitting to the fun, just pick up a short male to female extension hose. Something like this:

Could the hose with filter be taken off the pump and reversed, putting the filter on the pump end of the hose?  Using your measurement I put the caliper on the Marauder and just ballparking it I think we will have a clearance issue.  That extension hose will solve the problem.  Ordering one now.

There is NO clearance issue with the barrel. NONE!

Now, if your running a "can" also, depending on which one, how big it is. There could be an issue but that depends on the OD of the can. But then you can just unscrew the "can" to refill the gun.

MI Yeti,

I'll confess you've lost me here, could you clarify that a little more please?

Thanks.

Thank You for your replies. Sounds good that the hose fits directly in the marauder. I measure 17mm from center of fillport to barrel so it sounds like it just barely fits.

How about water issues in the airtank if i fill directly from compressor to rifle? Is it enough with the small air/oil filter already mounted on the hose?

Martin,

Water is definitely an issue. Do a search for "gold filter" and/or "molecular sieve".

This is One of my Marauders and the Vevor water separator. Hope this helps.

I have already looked at the big 600$ gold filters om eBay
but i was hoping that the filter that is included on the yong heng hose is enough? I can see that you also use the filter that was with your vevor. Does that take most og the water?

The "gold filter" Im referring to is around $60 USD delivered! I have never seen one for $600. It must be a very nice filter!  ;D

The factory filters remove "some" water, whether or not it's "most" of the water or even "enough" of the water, is open for debate.

A lot of people feel they can benefit from adding additional filtration, I am one of those people.

The picture I included earlier was just to show you and others that the factory separator will indeed fit.

Some of the compressor manufactures/distributors in China are keeping tabs on our forums and they recently released a new iteration of the "gold" moisture filter. The new version has a drying media cartridge inside it, versus a tampon-like foam.

Quite a few guys running the gold filter on their compressors have been packing them with zeolite, molecular sieve, or activated carbon instead of using the tampon material. To do that, they are making their own "sleeves" to hold the drying media, and then sticking that inside the gold filter. The people in China have been catching on, and they've basically replicated all the DIY stuff we've been doing, and selling it turn key. It's a brand new product that we were just made aware of earlier this week, and I'm sure no airgunner has their hands on one yet...but the price is pretty much the same as the original version of the gold filter.

And just to add, I'm running a premade cartridge in my gold filter bought from Filter Techs - https://www.filtertechs.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=394&osCsid=4322f7255261ddcb72c30977a1896d44 (https://www.filtertechs.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=394&osCsid=4322f7255261ddcb72c30977a1896d44)

Is the premade filter from Filter Techs rechargeable ( can you replace the media inside)  or do you have to replace the whole filter after so many hours with a new one. I am currently running a Gold filter with PVC liner.

What do you gain by using the molecular sieve etc. Filter compared to the tampon filter ? Does the materiales do a better job filtering water and what about durability ? I Guess its more expensive to exchange these materials than the tampon ?

Yes, it supposedly does a "much" better job.

And whether or not it is "more expensive" than the tampon, when is something "supposedly better" not more expensive? 😎

I have been using a gold coalescing filter with drain and the provided small tampon filter following a check, $110 on AliExpress (still can't post links).

Drains out quite bit of condensate each fill, collects in bottom with drain valve, must be used in vertical orientation.

Don't forget the filter available from Lethal Air for $50 I just ordered one last night. With shipping to Tn. it was about $57.95. Mine doesn't come with the extra hose. I also ordered a male foster check valve for the inlet side so I don't have to worry about getting the pressures to match before opening my tank valve when filling it, it will work just like I was filling a rifle with pressure still in the tube. Also have 13x molecular sieve with color changing beads coming from Amazon.

As to OP's question, I have filled both the Marauder and Disco from the tiny filter on the hose with my Yong Heng.

My hand pump had the same arrangement. I moved the filter from the foster end to the pump end. It does make it easier to attach.

Would this work?  Costs less, and has greater utility.  Supply dry air to the pump under pressure.  Put your molecular sieves in this:https://www.harborfreight.com/11-gallon-portable-air-tank-65595.html (https://www.harborfreight.com/11-gallon-portable-air-tank-65595.html)  Fill to pressure capacity and allow a few minutes for the air to dry.  Saw somewhere that if allowed to go to equilibrium would produce less than 1% humidity...actually, 0.15% percent.  Then regulate the dry air out at whatever the pump will accept.  Higher input pressure means fewer piston strokes to target psi.  Drier air in, fewer piston strokes...pump lasts longer?  Granted, increased heat is an issue, but with a water wetter heat transfer is increased over plain water, possible absorbing the delta.

And you can refill those tires...with DRY AIR!
