I bought a Gamo .22 Swarm max last week. I messed with it some shooting off my back deck at 20 yards. After getting use to it & adjusting the scope
I was shooting nickel size groups. I thought man that's pretty good. While ago I got my range finder out & moved a 7 Up soda can at 50 yards. I nailed
it. even when it layed over with only the bottom facing me, I nailed it. The funny thing I did not even have to adjust my point of aim.
I don't it would kill a squirrel at that distance but she is dead on. I was shooting RWS 14 grain field pellets.

Sounds decent.

Btw it's not just today's air rifles, many of the past were as good or better.
What definitely is better today is pellets, someone could take an airgun they had as a kid which would do 3/4" at 10yds on a good day and do 1/4" with the right pellet.
