Title: I managed to get five chippers on my last two hunts.
Post by: Wayne52 on May 27, 2018, 12:46:40 PM
I've had several glimpses of red squirrels recently but none of them were standing still long enough to get a good shot at them.

This was about a 35 yard shot.

Wayne, that is some excellent shooting of those chippers! Those reds will make a mistake and slow down in your cross hairs real soon :)

Thanks Randall !!! I probably won't be out in the woods until probably Wednesday again, the temps are in the 90's here til then and it's going to be cooled way back down on Wednesday with a high of 78, I'll be getting me some bug spray before then because the ticks are terrible here this year.

More nice ones Wayne! Just one today so far here. The reds have gotten very smart here but I keep a look out.

Thanks Dave !!! I think the best bet on getting a red squirrel is getting there at sunrise, they'll be making their noises then.  The thing I don't like about the warm weather is the bug spray(deet) but I guess it's better than the tick's especially, there's a lot of them this year and when I get home the first thing I do is stick all my cloths in the dryer right away, it kills any that might be on them.

Thanks Tim !!! I have been shooting JSB's and H&N's from it so far, I need to get some 14 grain pellets for it too.  The reason that I've been using 18 grain is because most of my guns like the heavy pellets, I've only got two co2 rifles right now that I bought recently mainly because the SPA guns are so modifiable and I do like tinkering.  I'd like to make one of them into a pcp eventually.

If your barrel likes them try the h&n barracuda hunters. My fx royal 400
likes them & they do expand.(nasty) :D

I've used the hunter extremes before but never in a co2 gun, I have some of those too, next time I go with the CP2 I'll use them instead because I've got almost an entire tin I haven't used on account of they tear stuff up too much when shot with a lot of power.
I was really surprised at how well these Sniper Magnums performed from the CP2, especially as heavy as they are coming from a co2 gun.
