Title: Rainstrom .25 goes hunting!
Post by: WiseGuy on May 20, 2018, 05:08:09 PM
I recently purchased a new Rainstorm II .25 from PA and was excited to get this gun out hunting.  Arrived at the farm at 6am and was anxious to set up the shooting table and some targets to get this RS2 dialed in!  My brother brought his trusty Kalibrgun Colibri and we both proceeded to shoot paper for about an hour before the squirrels started to wake up.  Only got a chance to try three different kinds of ammo thru the RS2 yesterday and that was the MK2s, Polymags and Grizly as I wanted to test these out for groups at 50 yards, which is where I zero most of my guns at.  Well, the MK2s and Polymags did not dissapoint! I decided to go ahead and hunt with the Polymags as I know they put a smack down on the ground squirrels and almost always results in a DRT.

After zeroing in and making sure chairgun was on the money for trajectory shots, I was ready!  I setup along side of this road where the farmer drops alot of disposed vegetables and always has ground squirrels and rats in that area, well, it wasnt long of a wait and the first squirrels presents itself at 91 yards.  I look at my rangecard and hold 3 mils on the squirrels head and squeeze the trigger...THAAWWCK! the sound was impressive! First kill for the RS2 ever at 91 yards, made me smile from ear to ear :D...soon as I shot that one another one comes running out to investigate that fastball to catchers mit sound...quickly got a distance on him at 80 yards and sent the second Polymag and that one too found its mark! :D...two shots and two down! I'm really liking the new gun by now!...well, I wont make it any more boring...long story short, between the both of us we managed 75 ground squirrels, 32 for me and the rest were my brothers, it was a shooting gallery once it warmed up a bit.  We literally sat in the same two spots for 2-3 hours and just procedded to blast away at the squirrels!  The pups are out in full force! Get out there and shoot!  Best shot for me was the first shot at 91 yards, my brother and his Colibri are insane, best shot for him was 120 and 102! Most shots ranged from 50-75 yards, until next time!

A few pics from yesterdays adventure...

Slightly better view of the shooting...that blue barrel is at 70 yards...that feeder in the background was the 90 yard shot.

Very nice work and congrats on the new RS .25!  The distance on some of your shots is impressive.

Not sure why, but this has been a bumper year for GS in CA.  My son and I were out yesterday and got about 75 between the two of us.  The young squirrels were out and there was movement everywhere we looked.

I did all of my hunting with my 12fpe hw97k and was very pleased with its effectiveness out to 40 yards.

Nice shooting Jimmy! You & your brother rained H3LL upon the g-squrrels.
Love the group photo, polymags rock the heck out of whatever you shoot with them.

Good shooting!  Don't have any of the diggers around here.  Have to wait till August for the opening of tree squirrel season

Dinh,

We just leave them for the night predators!  ;)...also, there are plenty of hawks that feed on them too.

Don't you also shoot at a chicken farm? If so, do you also set out for predators at the chicken farm?

Yes, I also shoot at the chicken farm, its been a while but we have a nice permission there with a nicely made shooting lane, its a full blown airgun dedicated range that our shooting group made. It's awesome! There are many coyotes there and most of the guys I shoot with hunt them there at night.  I've done it a few times, but have yet to be successfull on a yote, hopefully that will change soon. :D

Will have to try them out Tim.  I've been shooting the Polymags and MKII's. They both shoot great.
