Title: the quieter .. the better
Post by: mpbby on May 20, 2018, 09:32:48 AM
When you have a PCP rifle with the QE feature (“quiet energy”), if you add a LDC it would make a relevant or negligible difference?

Any actual experiences?

I've done it to a couple QEs. The amount the rifle was hushed did not justify the extra length.

Also, the barrels aren't centered so well in the shroud, so screwing on an extra LDC has a higher chance for pellet clipping.

I'd recommend taking the shroud off and just using a quality attachment.

Austin, thank you for sharing your informations.

Besides the sound effects, I had no idea about the potencial clipping issues.

The QE shrouds are not very effective at all, I recommend to my customers who want something for their QE guns that they remove the shroud and have me make a standard 1/2 inch x 20 LDC for them. The reports from my customers is that the difference between the shroud and my LDC is substantial and worth every penny. I will not make anything to attach to the shrouds because they are not made to very tight tolerances and they tend to clip when you add something to the end of them, Neil.

Used Neils LDC and agree way quieter.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rank the QE at a 2 and the Neil Clague at a full 10! ;)
Simply superb!!!

That duel baffle sized one that I got from David is unreal everyone, you just won't know how quiet they are til you own one.  I haven't seen anyone else remark on having one but I do know there's another one out there right now.
