I have a Hawk scope that was perfectly zero with a walton LDC.
I upgraded to the donny Emperor LDC and POI is about 6 inches to the right at 25 yards.
I have no more adjustment on the scope turret.
Is this normal for an ldc to cause this?
How do I remedy this issue?
-
Little changes in POI yes,a shift like that NO,i would check for a misalignement,i think your pellets/bullets come in contact with the baffles or the LDC exit hole.
-
The pellet may be "clipping"the LDC , or there may be more air flowing form one side if it is not mounted centered.
To check you can drop a wooden dowel or brass rod down the muzzle into the barrel.
11/64 = .172 and 7/32 =.2187 but that is an odd size and maybe hard to find. Try a hobby shop in their wood dowel or their K&S Brass tube / rod displays.

This on the Carnivore .357?
Didn't all those come as the QE version? If so and you removed the QE system, did you shim or replace the front barrel band?
Or did you tube it like some people do?
The .357 barrel is bad about moving around if it's not properly controlled and held in place.
If going without the QE system I highly suggest the NON-QE front barrel band.
-
Yes, this is the Carnivore 357. The OEM QE shroud has been removed.
I'm using the walton carbon fiber shroud and the LDC is directly threaded onto OEM barrel threads.
So your suggesting the pellet is making contact inside the LDC due to barrel vibrations? This LDC is long at 10 inches vs walton 6 1/4 inches.
But wow, this Emperor LDC is so quiet.
Where can I get the barrel band for the non QE barrel?

If you'd like to trade the QE Barrel band for a NON-QE band?
I JUST happen to have one.
;D
PM me if interested.
;)

Nice, great video.
Thanks for the post.
I just took apart the Emperor and there is slight clipping at the end of it. Definitely slight barrel shift is happening.
I don't think the non QE band will work as I have a shroud that replaces QE shroud.
Does anyone use the OEM QE system in conjunction with aftermarket LDC?
-
Did you shim inside the replacement shroud where the barrel band is?
The Stock QE system self aligns. The replacement thing people do if not shimmed at the barrel band can cause you issues.
I've found the tension on the stock system makes a difference also.
I don't know of anyone making an extension for the QE yet but I plan to make one.
-
The barrel band is tight contact with the replacement shroud. I think this is what your asking.
I suppose Ill set aside the Emperor and utilize it when the Texan carbine 35 becomes available.
I will continue to use walton ldc on carnivore as he tuned it nearly hole in hole at 100 yards.
Thanks for everyone's input on this matter.
Much appreciated.
-
Is the shroud supporting the barrel at the barrel band is what I was asking.
-
If the shroud is making hard contact with the barrel band, it can cause problems with accuracy!
It needs to be able to float, not push the barrel in the direction it wants!
This could very well be your problem. ;)
Also, if it is only the end of the LDC, (final hole) tht is slightly clipping, I would go slightly larger with a quality drill bit and open it up a few thousandts. It will not be louder, and could help tremendously.
Finally, try shims ( washers), in order to rotate the DonnyFl mod. This may also cure the problem. 8)

The QE system doesn't really allow the float. The tension you use on the front nut can make a difference.
Now if the replacement shroud is not locked down to the barrel in someway up at the front band? The barrel can and DOES move about.
I'd at the very lest have an o-ring right at the barrel band.
The .357 I've put into an AT44 stock does not have the front barrel band mounted at this time and it is shooting 6" low at 25 yards and I can SEE the barrel drooped!
AND it is still in the QE shroud.
I'd be more then willing to provide picture proof if requested.

Donny is sending me a larger end cap for the Emperor.
Donny has the best customer service hands down!
-
Yes hes super quick and interested in his products and enjoys the feedback he receives......
Great guy. I wish I had waited on my sumo to get his new epic tatsu. Might have to buy one later down the lines for giggles anyways,

I have had similar problems with an Emperor on my Hatsan Hercules .357
I can't get it to shoot consistently. It is very accurate in stock form, but all over the place with the Emperor.
As stated earlier, it is so quiet that I hate to take it off, but I can't seem to get it to shoot well.
I am thinking about getting an adapter made to try it on my Extreme Big Bore rifle.
I love Donny's stuff and he is a great guy. I met him a while back and he is super nice in person. Best customer service in the business.
-
I will follow up with my findings as far as accuracy.
Donny is sending me the .50 cal end cap so there should not be anymore clipping. Great Guy!
Thanks Donny!

The problem is the lousy quality control at Hatsan. Pitiful!
Not the fault of the precisions products of DonnyFl.
I returned the Nova as it was barley better than 3rd world junk. Terrible
Having worked hardened metals in fine detail for over 40 years, I have an Eye for quality. Hatsan simply doesn't have it. Sadly. :-[
-
Never open a hatsan :)
-
Well the Hatsan was decent out of the box, especially for my first pcp. Now with the pro-tune it is less then an inch at 100 yards, super accurate. I only wish it had power in the 900fps range.
I have been considering the slayer 357 for my next pcp. 275 fpe for 6 shots sounds great. I wonder how the accuracy is at 100 yards, if its groups better then what I have now.

Mike I have owned about half a dozen Hatsans and every one of them has been as accurate as I can shoot out to as far as I shoot, about 65 yards. It makes me wonder if the problem has been with them trying to hit the market with so many different models, they might be trying to run before they can walk? If they try and get too big too soon something will suffer and it sounds like it might be their quality control department. I have no very recent Hatsans, my newest is about 3 years old now so it does make me wonder? Neil.
-
Neil, I have a very bad feeling that the current general climate in Turkey towards a more third world desire, may very well be affecting quality in manufacturing.

I have a stable of the Hatsan PCP's
Now each of mine were pre-owned so maybe most of the problems were addresses before I got them.
Each one of them (Except for the parts AT44) shoot great with little issue.
The Nova I got under a year ago Rocker1 bought new and sold it to me. That thing is CRAZY accurate!
Just look at the Long Range Gate to see what it does!
Out of the box? I don't know. Never bought a brand spanking new one and have no plans to unless they start selling ALL parts I may need with no BS or questions asked like Crosman does.
-
jeff how quiet can the qe stuff be i sent you the shroude from my bull boss and used a donny 1.6 on it not shot it yet i think i buy the flash just case of the weight difrence can the qe stuff be made a lot more quiet
-
Just my 2 cents.
Only have a few Hatsans, but I stayed away from the QE versions. JUst prefer the option of going bare barrel when noise level isn't an issue....which is kind of hard with the QE versions.
So I have zero experience with the QE's...and hope to keep it that way.
BUT, I can tell with there is an LDC screwed on and when there is not (pretty much have to sight in...but it's a predictable change once you've twsted it both ways) Can also tell if an LDC is "loose" rather than tight...and I suspect the same would be true with the QE system in "loose fit" mode.

Outstanding!!!! Thanks. I used to use one of those rubber dampeners and noticed that POI changed when it was moved forward or backwards. It all makes sense now. And they are dirt cheep. I need to revisit a few guns that have been backshelved.
