Good Evening All!
So I picked up a legacy 1000 yesterday an put a few pills downrange with it, Overall I'm liking it , The guy at myairgunreviews did a video with accuracy and chrony readings and Mine is right on par with his, About 1/4 inch CTC 5 shot group @ 10 yards and around 800 fps with a 7.4 gr pill. It takes me back to my first real air rifle I had , The crossman 2100 (I know they are basically the same minus a little metal)...
So the questions are .... 1...Can I use a 2100 receiver for the legacy and can anything be done to beef up the fps/energy rating on an already pretty fast shooting gun?
I've yet to tear into it as I want to fully break it in and make sure it's not going to have any defects before I know it's reliable. When I had the 2100 I used tape on both ends of the barrel to secure it in the shroud and it helped quite a bit, 2...Is that still relevant to this gun too? 3... Are there any tuning kits or aftermarket parts you could recommend to me?
Thanks In advance ,
PP :)

Sounds like you have a very hot 1000.
You didn't state how many pumps it took to get 800 FPS but here is a good velocity write up:

The 2100 metal receiver will fit the legacy and the 2100/2200 mods will work also.
Here's a 2200 I modded along with some 2100 mods sprinkled in.

With 7.9 grain CPHPs
My modded 2100 gets:
07 pumps=715 FPS
10 pumps-=810 FPS
15 pumps=925 FPS

I wouldn't say hot , maybe warm lol. It gets 12 pumps to hit 800 fps , My highest was 843 fps with 7.4 gr crossman pointed pellets, But it only did it once and may have been a fluke. The 800 mark is repeatable with the lowest mark being around 780 fps. I am happy with it other then the trigger being so gritty and the mount being a dovetail, Maybe i'll slap a scope on it and take the thing apart and smoothen out the roughness from the trigger parts.
It would be nice to be able to hit 900 fps with the 7.4 I just wouldn't even know where to start with an air rifle. I do powder burners and not air chuckers. Any tuning kits out there that would give it a few more fps?
Nice 2200 btw , I have only seen one in real life and he wanted like 3 bills for it, Is there a way to make the legacy a 22 ? I'd glady sacrifice some speed for a little more accuracy and range and it'd be pretty unique imo

No tuning kits that I know of.
Mostly misc parts on Ebay etc.
I make and modify all my parts which is half the fun.
The 2200 is over rated. Stay with the .177 cal.
They usually go for around $150 on Ebay in good shape.
You can mod a 2100 with the 22 cal parts.
The 2100 series can be a pain to work on.
Lots of curse words used when modding them.
Best to remove the BB parts to make it easier to assemble.

I put a 2100b receiver on mine and like it. I would consider it mandatory if you intend to use a scope or peep sight on it. Mine has a diopter rear sight and I used a cut off allen wrench to add the height to the front sight to make it match.
