Title: Nova .25 at 100 yards
Post by: Privateer on May 10, 2018, 07:20:56 PM
Been working with this one for awhile and can say I'm VERY happy with it!
You can see the target holder way out there.

Rough shot through the scope looking at the targets.

From the targets looking back at the house.

OK. so now the targets! Center one was used as the guide to get me set up.
Both left and right targets are 5 shots and 5 shots only!

Hatsan Nova .25 using JSB 25.39 Kings. Distance to target 103 yards lasered. Shot off a Dead shot stand.

Looks like an upgrade to Expert at least.... Lay a ruler over that right hand target and measure the group and rattle Marty's cage to see if you can make Master.... What is a "Dead Shot" stand?....

I didn't fill in the information on the targets and the rules say you have to.
 ;)
Right hand target has 3 in the green and the other 2 are not touching the green. I'm uploading pics now.

Looks like the target is a little undersize, so no problem with that.... the "9 ring" is supposed to be 4" diameter, and the "10 ring" should be 2" (yours is about 1-3/4").... Check your printer settings, you can make your job a bit easier.... If you want to use that target to enter this month's match, you would score a 50/50 2X (maybe 3X).... To use the target to upgrade, the C-T-C would have to be under 1" for Master, otherwise it would be Expert.... I don't know what the ruling is on the "Cold Shot", gun vices are not allowed, but that setup would allow you to have the butt against your shoulder.... Marty is the only guy who can tell you whether or not it qualifies....

BTW, GREAT SHOOTING !!!

I'm good Bob. Not submitting this one for any up grade just that I was happy to get it shooting this good.
 :D
And Rocker1 would NOT let me use the Dead Shot at the GTA meet after he saw me shooting with it. LOL!
I do shoulder the Gun and control the up/down/left/right.
A bag on a bench is much more stable. Wind or even your heart beat will affect the Dead Shot.
There are no clamping devices to hold the Gun in place. The clamps that hold the stand in place are iffy at best.
I'd dare anyone to try to duplicate shots with the stand clamps and just pulling the trigger! LOL

Are you willing to elaberate on what you did to get it to shoot so good? ;)

Excellent shooting there Jeff. Put a ruler across the 4 MOA circle, calculate the CTC of the group and fill out the info on the bottom, take another picture of it and post it. It should get you an upgrade.

Re the Dead Shot.... I don't consider it a gun vise and you are shouldering the rifle to shoot it, so I would accept it. I have one also and I agree that it is more unstable than a bench rest and  a bucket & sticks setup. I mostly use it as a rifle holder. If anyone disagrees with my decision let me know and I'll take it into consideration.

I hope your bringing the Nova to the Fun Shoot. I'll have my .25 HMX there and a bunch off 100 yd targets for score. Shoot off time  ;) ;D 8)

I get 3 3/4" across the 4 MOA ring.
C-T-C is 15/16" on the 2 furthest holes.
 :D

Yes the Nova will be with me! It's the one Rocker1 had last year.

It came pretty well set up. I bought it from Rocker1 so he had a hand in it which is always good!
I did the cleaning as Rick Eutsler does in this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIkBLixIyIs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIkBLixIyIs)

I also polished the bore just a little. I also played with the tension on the shroud when I put it back on.
To tight or to loose can make a difference to me anyway.
And I turned the power up some from Rocker's settings. I have a compressor so shot count don't mean much to me now days.

Jeff a picture please with a ruler across the 4MOA and the rest of the info as per the rules. Post it and you'll get an upgrade. Like you say "no picture it didn't happen" :D

Good to hear, looking forward to meeting up with you again. Any more bells?
