Title: LDC question for at44
Post by: charliek on May 03, 2018, 01:19:21 AM
Have my at44 QE long .25 valve modded and am interested in LDC. Looking at Bwalton, Neil Claque and Rocker 1. Of anyone who has Bwalton LDC, can you tell me what the approximate outside diameter is? Curious versus QE shroud.

The BWalton is 1.25 inches in diameter.
Rocker1's are smaller and do the same job.
I'd suggest HIGHLY you get a Rocker1 having both myself.

Now if you pull the QE off? The front barrel band will not fit properly. Maybe Hatsan USA will sell you a non-QE band.
Or you could shim it with something. I just cast molds of them and make my own.

Not trying to be thick headed Jeff, but I interpret "having both yourself" as one of each? I would like to keep a shroud of some type over the bbl, so will investigate this as I get into it. Thanks sir  ;)

Yes. I have the BWalton on a BT65 right now. The Rocker1's on an AT44 .22 and a Disco.
And I have several QE's that I will keep as QE's. Infact? I'm converting Non-QE versions to the QE version.
There are options to make the QE better at doing it's job.
Try some of these as I plan to do.

If you'd like to see a picture of each system side by side I can do that.
I've not seen an add on to the QE system as yet. So you will need to remove it.
I'd not add onto the QE Myself. It's long enough as is.

Great info! Thank you Fred. I appreciate both of your inputs. If you both don't mind, may I ask a question that I don't wanna post on the forum just yet? It's regarding "suppliers" we have on the forum, and a tad of frustration I cannot understand.

Tuesday 4/24 I emailed Bwalton for the 1st time regarding an LDC, and he called me 20 minutes later! I thot GREAT! He said he was in his shop and that he'd call me the next day before I went to work (2nd shift 2-10). Wednesday came, nothing, Thursday the same. So late Thursday eve I emailed him again and assumed he had been busy, but that I looked fwd to speaking with him. He emailed late that eve and was on a hunting trip and said he'd contact me when he got in. I've never heard from him since, and have not desired to pursue him any further for potential purchases.

This Monday 5/7, I emailed Rocker1 after getting home late from work, for the 1st time. I sent a brief email telling him who I was, what I had and asked a few questions about his "product line" offerings? I've heard nothing back from Dave as of yet??

I've read of MANY people on GTA who've had a great experience working with Dave and how customer oriented he was. I am not sure what may be happening, but since I've been a GTA member since 2/2016 I've only posted about 30 times. I don't know if this may have any bearing on my experiences so far, BUT my main question was, how can I get a hold of Dave? I assume my email was received, but don't know. And I'm a little hesitant to post a forum question about "how to contact Rocker1"???

Any opinions or insights would be appreciated. Not that it matters, but I'm a 51 year old EE and am not a teenage kid out there just screwing around with people. Thank you Jeff and Fred.

Thank you Fred for your input and insight. I have looked at Donny's site before and nice stuff! I would like to try and contact Dave again for at least a reply hopefully, but you have shed some light on things for me.

Quick question, I want to put one on my .25 as it barks a tad more when tuned hot than I would like for my neighbors sake. It's not loud, just don't want folks to know what I am doing  ;) Depending on model from Donny you have & caliber your have, I know attenuation will vary. But does your LDC perform as you expected? I see guys somewhere in the 65 to 70 dab range with a .25 call and that is what I believe I'd like. Thank you again Fred.

I'm shooting a semi-hot .25 Hatsan Nova QE and find that it works fine myself.
I did change the stuff inside around from stock and it is quieter.
I run the aluminium spacer then one of the baffles then a spacer then the last baffle.
Keep them clean! A couple tins of pellets and I clean them.
Did you send a PM to Rocker1? I can send him a heads up if needed.
He's old and getting senile I think.
 ;D
(Watch my Avatar get changed!)

Now. If you want a BWalton I'll send you the one I have. I don't like the size of it at all.
It works fine I just don't like it. I have a lathe now so am making my own if I need any more.
I really prefer the QE system with some work on them.

Charlie,

I got an LDC for my XS 60c a few weeks ago from Dave.  Now all I hear is the hammer and the impact.

I just spoke to Dave Tuesday morning as I had not gotten any email response in a few days and was wondering about something.  Great guy to talk to, I could have talked to him for hours.
Dave does great work and stands behind his work 100%.  Keep trying.  Someone can get you his number, it is on his business card which I do not have with me right now.  sorry.

Last time I talked to David he told me he was gonna shoot me!
 ;D

That's his way of saying he likes you I guess.
I know he is a busy Guy but any contact with him is well worth it.

Jeff, the LDC from Baxter, you had said it was 1.6" OD and I assume about 6-6.5 " long. It appears Rocker1's LDC's are a tad smaller OD which may be appealing. Regarding your Bwalton, do you have a price in mind of what you'd want? Feel free to PM if you prefer, as I would be interested.

MY QE setup is stock except for 2 - 5/32" holes I drilled in 1st aluminum baffle, and lined both with thin acoustic foam and very fine air tool stainless mesh to protect foam?? I will definitely try your re-arrangement Jeff.

As far as you giving Dave a heads up, thank you very much for the offer!! I will shoot him a short PM first this morning, instead of his email and hope to hear back. I assume I will, but KNOW from the sounds of it, that he is a busy man. But a great guy to work with  :D

Top is the Rocker1
Bottom is the BWalton. (I added the flame wrap. It actually looked the same as Rocker's)

Actually Dave said emailing him is much more reliable than PMing him.
