I never thought of using my gun case as a TV tray... don't get any crumbs in the action! LOL.... looks like a fine treat.

Now that looks good ! I haven't had quail in quite a long time but I remember vividly how good they tasted... I'm definitely envious.

Aghhh, it was a victim of circumstance LOL.....I was done shooting, the grilling was done, and the beer was cold.........Basically the case and the gun was in the wrong place at the RIght time LOL......
When the grub is done HAVE at IT.....LOL....it smelled to good to put things away first....HAHAHAHAHHA

Looks good!
I've got a variation, if you like.
Cut the backs out of the quail and sautee' them in a fairly hot skillet, seasoned with cumin and cayenne and of course salt and pepper. Bone side down first, then turn.
I serve them with a wasabi riata (seeded cucumber, greek yogurt, wasabi, salt, fresh mint), and sage-garlic potatoes (cubed russets, cooked until just browned, then toss in 10-15 whole skinned garlic cloves and a handful of fresh sage. Continue cooking until the garlic is tender and golden).
That may be the single best preparation for quail that I've ever had or done.
I ripped it off from Jacques Pepin.

I look down and see a bowl of corn flakes. I look up and see tasty, mouth watering, grilled quail. I look down, I look up. I lean forward and lick the screen. :P
Yea, they taste about the same. :-\
Redsoxvw, Please send any left-over's (on the wing would be okay also) by air mail for proper tasting. :D
