Title: Spring Shooting Takes a Hit
Post by: rsterne on April 25, 2018, 12:56:25 PM
This is the time of year I try and get out and test my winter projects.... I don't even have enough time to really find out what they can do before the Motel gets busy for the summer, as I have to fit it around reducing the Varmint population for the two local ranches.... but I usually can do some testing.... I went out on Saturday and got my guns sighted in, but there is still snow at the 100 yard mark, I could only get out to 75 yards.... I was hoping to get out this week, but I had a fall getting the courtyard ready for the Motel guests, and twisted my ankle and bruised my butt.... The bruise is now the entire size of the left cheek, but fading, but the ankle was getting worse so I went to Emergency.... They thought I had broken it and X-Rayed it, but it turns out to be just a bad sprain.... and will take a few weeks to heal....

There goes my spring shooting....  ::)

Good thing nothing is broken.  Maybe it's a wake up call to be extra careful.

I'm but a youngster at 57, but sometimes I just say "nope don't do it, don't want a trip to the hospital"

Good luck on your healing process, Bob.  And don't sit too much.   ;D
When my son was in high school, he sprained his ankle.  The doctor told us it probably would have been better (for healing) if it had been broken.  He is 43 years old and it still bothers him when he gets to athletic.   :(

It sounds like you had it all nicely planned out Bob, but then in an instant, it all changes. I hope your recovery goes well, although I bet you'll be trying to use your ankle more than the doctor "suggested." Maybe you'll still get a little shooting time in despite everything else that is going on right now.
P.S. When I first read the title of the topic, I was sure you were talking about abandoning springers even more!

Sold all my Springers last year.... Ankle is slowly improving, pain pretty much gone.... Now I just have to convince myself to give it time to completely heal and not injure it again....

Do you have a Quad, Bob?  Good way to get around to at least target shoot.... Just saying'!

Yes, but I have such a limited window of time between winter and the Motel getting busy in the summer that anything like this ankle really puts a crimp in my shooting time.... This week we are washing windows, getting ready for guests, next week family coming....

Well my friend I hope you heal up fast and can find a few hours a week to get use of those beautiful guns you built this winter
