I should have taken a picture, but it looked like fairly small chunks so it may also work for shooting rest bag fill

If a good target backing is important to you -everything.

I have been looking for  a nearby source that doesn't involve buying a huge quantity and there is an aldi store in the next town over-this is great news for me.

Some of the items at Aldi, especially the special buy stuff comes and goes quickly. May want to call to check stock

In our area, the $2/bag mulch at Depot and Lowes is the wood chip stuff

Rubber mulch, stuffed into a 5 gal. plastic bucket set on its side, lid toward you is the best silent bullet trap I have ever used, up to and including 200 fpe. .257 Dyotat100/TalonDor and .22 and 17 pb. Have even used the 1911 with it a few times when fresh mulch is in the tub.  ;D

My wooden-box trap is stuffed with 2 bags of rubber mulch and will stop a 9MM +P.  Ask how I know :)

As far as I'm concerned, it's about the best dang pellet-trap stuffing there is, and incredibly easy to clean- dump into a wheelbarrow filled with water.  Lead sinks, rubber floats.

dont want to violate 3a, but ive but back to back 5 gallon buckets of rubber mulch can handle some serious suff!

slow and heavy penetrates the farthest.

if anything id be worried about some lower velocity flat pellets bouncing off. i know id get pellets coming back at me sometimes when hitting the rubber 22 gopher targets.
