I have been wanting one of these even before they became the "Outlaw" but with all the issues I have read about dealing with the other place I decided to wait a bit and see what happens. Now that the Outlaws are in stock and I had the money in hand I called and ordered one from Baker Airguns this morning. Now the waiting for new gun delivery begins yet again.
-
Subscribing to this thread; wanna hear all about it.

I know the gun.. I wanna hear how Baker compares to "the other place". For example: Tracking and ship time.
-
I've always received great customer service from Dennis.

Well, I called this morning at 11:45 and they answered the phone right away. I placed my order with Dennis and he said he would get it shipped today. At 4:00 I received an email with my tracking number.
I don't think you can get better service than that.
As a clarification on the "other place", I have only bought from him once and had a good experience but that was two or three years ago. However after reading numerous posts on here and other forums about lack of customer service I decided to just save myself a possible headache and frustration and order from Baker Airguns, who happen to have excellent customer satisfaction.
Now hopefully the gun lives up to the hype. ;D
-
I have yet to place an order with Baker that's why I was curious. I know others have had issues with "the other place" and at one time I did as well. It was worked out in the end. Often times we hear about the bad and seldom hear about the good.
There's been so many discussions about "the other place" that it definitely falls into "the dead horse" file.
I didn't know that Baker had access to any of the SPA guns, Diana or otherwise branded. Any reputable source for these guns is a win for all of us.
-
Yea I was surprised they had the Outlaw too, actually saw it on Ebay from them but I called it in direct. I had a pistol to sell or trade so I traded it in on this is the other reason I went with Dennis plus they are only one state away from me.
-
WOW !!! And they take trade ins?
-
I have been "hovering" on that version of the SPA M16. Some have posited that Diana may have improved quality control, but I think the only difference will be the etching on the receiver/breech, and of course the box logo.
I have ordered small items from Baker twice - no issues.
Best wishes and looking forward to hearing about it.
-
Randy...
I just spoke to Dennis on the phone and inquired about trading in a gun I have for a Seneca Dragonfly. He said he can get one for me and is interested in the trade in. I'm at work now and the gun is at home. Next step is to send pictures and negotiate.
Thanks for the info.

They're a nice gun, congrats on the Outlaw !!! I've got the Airmax M16, I've put it through it's paces and I just recently did some modding to it and I'll be doing more yet.

Your posts are what got me interested in this gun. I was wanting the Dominator but then all this Diana talk popped up at the shot show so I waited to see what was going to happen. I had bought a Gamo Urban in the meantime and it was a great gun but i really wanted this one and now I was ready to order.
-
I think your really gonna like it, and I'll bet Wayne is good for a few helpful hints! 8)

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts too! I was really considering one but ended up with a used condor instead.
-
Randy I don't know which caliber that you ordered yours in but I got mine in .22 and there's ample room for modifying it, these guns are very capable of shooting slugs if set up right, after I get it where I want it I'm going to order some Nielsons slugs for it, probably in the mid 25 grain area and try them out in it, the gun is very accurate I must add. Even Nick said somewhere on the forum that he had tried his slugs in this gun and they shot well. I've got more refining to do on my tune of it though, especially on the regulator. I'm very happy that JSAR is going to start ordering these guns because they're a lot of fun and make fantastic lightweight hunters.

These guns are super easy to work on too, mine came with a gauge wrench too which is a very handy item to have cause the gauge is used on many of the SPA products.
-
I also have an outlaw in .25 otw from AoA. Still trying to figure out which scope will beat suit her.
-
Mine will be topped with an Optisan Mamba Lite 3x12x44 and I ordered a .22. I have a Cricket in .25 that fulfills my power with accuracy need.
-
Well it showed up today. Only had time to check it over, mount a scope, clean barrel and shoot 10 18.1 JSB and 10 Crosman 14.3 over the chrony.
Trigger breaks at 1 1/2 lbs and I need to tweak it a bit to my liking. Jsb 18 were 875-890 and CPUM were 970 fps. The ldc is empty so I will make a couple baffles to quiet it down some more. It's not bad now but could use some help. Gun handles and shoulders great. More to come later after more testing.

Randy, congrats! Beautiful...shoots hard too, perfect fps!
-
I really like the looks of those rifles,.....Chinese sure can design nicer guns then Turks :) :)
-
I also have an outlaw in .25 otw from AoA. Still trying to figure out which scope will beat suit her.
Back when I ordered mine there was a sale going on for BSA scopes, that's what I've got on mine with maximum 12X which is good for the woods but across a field a more powerful scope would be even better IMO, especially if you're going for a hundred yard shot, these guns can do it.
Randy if you don't already have the exploded view/parts list for this gun I'll upload it, they're also nice for seeing what makes them tick ;D
-
I saw an Athlon Altros on the calsi's here for 275. A really good deal at the price. Ultra clear, very good tracking with killer reticle.
Many cal it the Airgun Scope equivalent of the Vortex PST. And it really is!
Biggest difference, is the Athlon will focus down to under 10 yards where the Vortex cannot. That and the tracking is actually much as it will shoot the box over and over again! 8)
Sure would like to see one of these m16/outlaws. They look pretty darned good in pics.! :D

I just grabbed a little utg bugbusternfor the time being. Suits this little light package imho. Might upgrade in the future if conditions require.

I had a chance to get familiar with the gun a bit today. The trigger broke at 1 1/2 #'s but you couldn't tell where second stage was. It was just one long even pull. I took it apart and found the trigger is made very well and just needed some adjustment and slight polishing. The sear and levers are very smooth and needed no work but the trigger blade is powder coated or something similar. The top of it is where the sear lever contacts it and it needed the coating polished off. I replaced the trigger spring with a slightly lighter one I had on hand and then adjusted the first and second stages. It ended with a nice light first stage and a 1 lb 2nd stage but it is a little long yet. I may adjust it some more later on.
Next I added some washers and spacers in the ldc and cut the bark in half. The barrel is crowned prertty nice and so far it seems to be very accurate. The weathert not worthy as it's been windy and raining so no bench testing yet.
As I was testing it out I would shoot a few over the chrony and noticed it has some swings in fps mostly higher but only once in a while. After I get a couple hundred pellets through it I will run some chrony strings with different pellets and see if it settled down . Then I will do some accuracy testing

Did more testing and some target shooting tonight. "dang" weather not worthy . We had snow flurries all day and it only got to 36 ° .
But I braved the cold to shoot and here are the results. I'm really liking this gun and it is shooting great now with only a couple hundred pellets thru it.
I filled the gun to 3400 according to my tank guage and refill was 1800 so I'm assuming that is where the reg is set. Or close to it.
Target was shot at 35 yards off a small metal table, gun fore end rested on bag, rear against shoulder. Groups are 11 shots each ( one mag each)

Thought my .25 would be here last night but AoA is taking their time w this one. Going a little stir crazy hah.
-
After a few months do you all still like your outlaws? I’m looking at getting something a little better than my Gamo Urban and I’m thinking about this or maybe a brocock. Can any of you compare this with any of the $300-class pcps like the urban or gauntlet?
-
Yes I'm still liking my Outlaw. I sold an Urban to help fund my Outlaw purchase. Really liked the Urban but wanted the Outlaw too and didnt need both. I was looking hard at the Brocock Compatto but decided on the Outlaw.
I have worked on and shot three different Guantlets and they are ok but not in the same class as my Outlaw. Yes they are accurate, gets lots of shots, etc. but they are big and heavy and long and harder to cook. . Ok for paper punching and some hunting situations but I prefer smaller and lighter. You can basically cock the Outlaw with one finger , it's that smooth.
Everybody has their own preferences and I prefer the outlaw.
Most all these guns need a little massaging and TLC to get them to their best and that includes Marauders, Guantlets, Outlaws etc. I've owned a bunch of different brands and even my Cricket, Rapids, AA, AirForces, needed a little tlc to make them perform their best. That's part of the fun for me with these airguns is seeing how they work and trying to make them better.
-
I have owned my SPA M16 (MrodAir branded/ not Outlaw branded) for about a year now and it is my go to rifle. Light weight, accurate, powerful, and just a pleasure to hunt with. I have owned more powerful guns, and still have a BT65 in .25 cal, but they all mostly stay in the closet since the SPA arrived. The only mods are a Huma regulator and some hammer spring shims (washers) to get the power up to about 48 ft lbs. I don't think you would be disappointed with this rifle in .22 or .25 cal.
Randy I would be interested in the configuration and parts you used in the front end to quiet the bark. I shoot in my neighborhood yard with it as is, but quiter is better... ;D
-
What kind of shot count are you getting with the Huma regulator? Is it noticeably better than the stock reg and did you have issues with the stock reg?
One other question, I’ve seen 3 different places to buy this or a version of it. I’ve heard of customer service issues with 1 place. Does it matter much which version you buy and where it comes from? I’m not sure what can or can’t be posted so if anyone has an answer feel free to PM me instead of posting here.
-
I did not not have any specific issues with the stock regulator, I just wanted to experiment with reg settings to get the power up to where I wanted it, and there are no markings on the stock regulator. At the time very little information was available about the stock regulator so I just ordered a Huma. I already knew the gun was going to be a keeper so didn't mind investing a bit more. I get about three mags from a full fill before falling off the reg shooting JSB 25.39 at 900 fps. (Mine is .25 cal) The Huma is very consistant, but the factory reg might have settled in and been fine as well. I don't think Wayne has changed the reg in his, and is very happy with his results.
I think the guns are the same regardless of where you purchase them, but the customer service, return policy, and overall satisfaction might vary from dealer to dealer.
-
This is what I'm getting from my .22 Airmax Dominator since I did a little modding on it.

-
Wayne..
Is it normal to get that wide of a spread on a reg or is that why you're going to mod it? I've never used a reg so I really don't have a clue.
-
Bill that was right after I did the mods, I would say the regulator has probably settled in better because I did turn it up when I did the mods. Maybe I'll do another string again soon, I'll be testing some boat tails soon once I get the mold from NOE. It was spurious when I first got it but settled in really good later on but that was with no mods.
-
This is once it was broke in good with the stock tune.

-
Gotcha... like I said, I have zero experience with a reg. I've used the o-ring buffer and now the TSS... both with great results.
My Urban is bone stock and I get 30-35 good shots.
-
Let's see if this works. Just ran a full string over the chrony. 55 shots at 910 fps avg with JSB 15.89 gr.
Fill was 240 bar
End 130 bar

Those SPA rifles are looking really good.

i just seen this last nite donnyfl sell this adapter for the out law 45$ its lets use use a 1/2 20 ldc and dones away with factory ldc i looking real hard at the out law from aoa my self was goign to get a guanlet in 25 but the out law to me looks better and from reading your guys post how the out easyer to cock and liter the the guanlet i think i go with the out law hard to cheose eather 22 or 25 ?
-
Donny made me up the first one Prototype), for a Rainstorm, along with the Shogun LDC. Probably more DLC than needed but it will eventually become a bullet shooter.
Sneaky Squirrel Quiet! ;D
-
its so cool he makes adapters to fit most ever popluar gun i was courious how good the ldc that comes with the out law is cause if it ant good i run the donnyfl i got the 1.5x 6.5 in 25 cal and man it works great
-
This is what I added to the stock LCD, as its empty from the factory. Works pretty good on my .22. I would think the .25 might need an aftermarket LCD to really quiet it down as the factory one probably isn't large enough. From what I hear Donny's products are top notch and work great but I have no first hand experience with his ldc's. I did purchase an adapter for my Rainstorm and it works great.
-
if I was on the market for a .22 in that power level the Outlaw/M16 would for sure be on my radar,
I think people should really keep an eye on this brand in the future.
-
Fred I shoot my .25 cal SPA M16 with the factory LDC in my yard without too much worry, but my neighbors are not so picky. I would call it borderline back yard friendly, fine for most hunting situations. I also have a 1/2 20 adaptor made for me by another member, but haven't felt the need to use it with another LDC just yet.
-
well i plan on just shooting paper with the out law so i probile use the 22 cal i glad to know the factory ldc is hollow but looks like you guys figured out how to mod them does the factroy reg that comes in the rifle ok to use
-
A guy asked me what the twist was on the barrel in the hunting gate, Gertrude told me once what it was but I can't remember, mine is a .22 and is very accurate.

When we asked Julie at SPA, she said they were 1:18, but when we checked it, we found them to be 1:20
hope that helps.
-
Thanks Ron !!! I knew it was up there but didn't know exactly where.
-
My shot string on the previous page is with the factory reg. I did reseal it and polished the washers as I was having some 40 fps spikes when it was new. I think it is working just fine. I have well over a thousand shots through it now.
-
Can I ask anyone on this thread whether the stock Outlaw regulator is user-adjustable? Is there a screw to turn like on a Huma? I know there is a Huma replacement but am wondering about the adjustability of the OEM reg. Thanks.
-
Yes it is user adjustable but different than a Huma. It's been a while since I had it out and I guess I didn't take any pics of it.
I haven't touched anything on it lately and it is still shooting great with the 15 gr JSB at 910+ fps. I did try 18's again but it just shoots the 15's better than anything else.
-
I'm new to the forum and just seen this thread and sounds like everyone is doing well with their Outlaw. I picked mine up this summer in .22 and really enjoy it. I was moving up from a 850 Air Magnum which is a very good CO2 gun but I wanted to get into PCP's. After looking around I decided the Outlaw was a good entry gun to start with. The only issue I have had was when I first got it the trigger was not working couldn't fire it, the vendor had checked it and it worked then. I pulled it apart and the pin the connecting block(Diagram #64) pivots on in the trigger group had worked almost completely out allowing the block to fall down jamming the trigger. The pin is a press fit in the housing and must not have been installed properly at the factory so I set it with a punch and it's been shooting great ever since. Want to get a 1000+ rounds through it before I look at any mods, would like to try slugs any recommendations? I put a UTG 3-12X44 30mm Etched Glass Mil-dot scope on it with a bi-pod and am impressed with the accuracy. My FPS pretty much match what others are getting mostly target shooting but hope to go hunting with it this fall.
-
get a sampler pack from https://nielsenspecialtyammo.com/

I have the outlaw in .25 w a UTG swat 3-12x44 scope. Love it.

Did you find out how to adjust this regulator ? How much does what :)
Mine 25 is loud :( any mods or aftermarked suppressor recommended for this rifle?
-
Yes the regular is adjustable. I had mine apart and adjusted it which took several tries to get it where I wanted. I was having issues with erratic fps so I tore it down, replaced all orings, lightly polished the reg washers and readjusted . Worked great and was getting 55 shots with 15.9 JSB at 915 fos. One of my favorite guns but I did sell it to fund my Brocock Bantam.
-
Hope I'm not butting in , I'm looking hard at the outlaw too, vs marauder in .22 with the mmhf barrel.
