Title: Need help finding Metric O-Rings
Post by: oldpro on April 09, 2018, 04:24:05 PM
I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find the following orings in Urethane 1x4.5mm and 1x5.5mm and 1x7mn

Any particular reason for urethane? Viton, Buna and others are readily available.

Based on the sizes given, I suspect he wants them for bolt probes.  I like to use polyurethane there as well because of its abrasion resistance but a few months ago I looked for some M1 O-rings in small sizes and soon gave up.  I wasn’t too disappointed…either a 70D or 90D Buna-N lasts a very long time in my experience.  However if you have to stretch the O-ring a lot to install it, a 90D Buna-N is apt to tear whereas a polyurethane will not.

FWIW, supposedly hydrogenated Buna-N (typ. green color) has abrasion properties somewhere between regular Buna-N and polyurethane, but as I recall I didn’t have much luck finding the small metric sizes in that material either.  Perfluoroelastomer (e.g. Kalrez) is supposed to be right up there with polyurethane for abrasion but it’s even less common.

Travis,

I too looked around for those exact ones back when I was looking for some backups for the poppet - I never found anything other than the Buna ones, and the o-ring store was the best place that I found.

I would love to have the urethane ones in that application, as I don't want to have to go in there unless absolutely needed - the longer the life the better, pretty much regardless of price . . . .

Maybe Mac 1 Tim?  Doesn't he keep a good sized stash of high quality o rings next to his Secret Sauce? ;)

Would HNBR air conditioning orings do the trick? You can get kits on amazon for fairly cheap.

I went on a quest looking for them, thinking that I'd surely come up with a source... but nope! If anyone has them, they're pretty well keeping it under wraps.

Hi Travis,
I've bought some metric o rings from Oringsandmore.com (http://www.oringsandmore.com/) although they were not Urethane.
They might have an Overseas source if you contact them.
Could be worth a phone call.(http://www.cafehusky.com/smilies/thinking.gif)

If these are for your own guns, and the groove is in the bolt, how about opening up the groove to fit Marauder o-rings.  Somebody must have those in 90 urethane.  Tim for sure.   Regards, Tom

Good find Tritium, that is the only place I’ve seen the exact size for .177 gauntlet bolt probe O-Rings

I don’t see how to order, bulk only I guess?

Edit...only place I’ve seen urethane in the right size

Check the 1mm size under the cross section field(left side of list), then choose 100 in results to show field. They are near the bottom.
