I started out looking for a new gas gun but in mid stream switched to wanting an entry level PCP gun. I settled on a Gamo Urban PCP Air Rifle, Bolt Action, .22 Caliber and a cheap PCP pump off FleaBay. Hopefully this will let me see if I want to get deeper into the PCP side of air guns.
Steve..........

I would say you will be hooked.
-
yep, you've done it now..... :o
-
With any luck you will get the worst gun ever made, you will swear off air guns, and spare you from this dark abyss ;)
I am sure this wont happen.

You laugh about it but that would be just my luck. Forty people in a group could be given a ball peen hammer and the first time I used mine the ball part would break off and no one else would.

Maybe but if I were one of the 40, I'd hit my finger.
Pull the straps tight on you're little helmet, you're in trouble now.

From one Steve to another...congrats! I think you'll enjoy the Urban. I retired April 1, 2017 and went from all break barrels to PCP with some retirement money. I bought a used Discovery, and later the Marauder. I added the Gauntlet and Brocock over the winter along with 2 hand air pumps and a SCUBA tank. Kinda went "hog wild". ;D ;D Will I sell the break barrels? Nope. My final airgun bucket wish might be a Styer or FX Huntsman Regal. But for right now I want to get totally acquainted with the fearsome four at this time. I did notice one downside to all of this.....pellets seem to vanish MUCH faster, so get your Urban some good "tube food" ::) Again Steve, congrats and welcome to the Darkside!

Steve, great choices! Congrats and enjoy :)

Here's another offer, from one Steve to another - just send me all your discretionary funds pus 10% for overhead and I'll spend it for you! That way you'll never get hooked ::)

Congrats, Steve and I like the Gamo Urban and it sound like a nice gun.
PCP is the way to go for sure!
You probably know this, but Pyramid Air has a buy 3 and get the 4th for free.
Enjoy!

A buddy of mine recently purchased a Urban for a friend of his based on recommendations and reviews of several members here. He sent me an email yesterday after shooting it for the first time. It came straight out of the box, cleaned the barrel, checked all screws for tight, and mounted "A cheap and cheesy scope that wont even focus correctly" (his words).
He shot several 5 shot groups at 10, 20, 30, and 50 yds using a bench and sandbags.
He sent me pics of the groups,... and I have to say I was quite impressed. His groups at 10 yards were basically "One-Holers",
his groups at 30 yds were very tight "Clover Leafs".
On his 50 yd groups, he said he was having difficulty seeing the center of the target (due to the cheap scope ), and yet his pellets were still nearly touching.
He said he will be putting a better scope on it in the next day or two, and would post more groups. He was quite confident the 50 yd shots will at least be clover leafs at that point.
Then he said he was ordering another for himself and asked when I would be ordering one myself, LOL.
Seems everyone who has recently purchased the Urban is quite pleased with it's "Out of the box" performance.
Gotta like that !

Ron...
I will personally vouch for every thing your friend told you about the Urban. And I'll bet he hasn't even done a lot of pellet testing yet. As you already know, I am a cheap SOB. If not for the cost of spare mags, I would consider the Urban as my one and only PCP gun. My other concern, if any, would be sourcing parts if things begin to go bad.
With the JSAR light weight tube, TSS and MDS hammer, my SynRod .22 is now the gun that could have kept me from buying an Urban. The low cost of spare mags being one of the main game changers. Crosman's parts department being another. However, what you would have invested in a SynRod to get it where mine is would be a mark in the "con" column.

Like avatar, I went with a Marauder , but for me the Urban was also a great choice.
My only regret was not moving to a PCP a year earlier.
So, I think you made a great choice.
when the gun comes in and you start shooting it, please share your progress.

That's a great choice for your introductory into PCP, Steve!
I absolutely love my Urban! So much so, I'm probably going to get another one should the price drops back down to the $200 mark again.
