Title: Power of a standard Sheridan Streak?
Post by: 45flint on March 26, 2018, 10:01:50 AM
I am looking at a lot of UTubes on the Sheridan Streak getting ready for a Airgun Show in a couple weeks.  Two UTubes tested new Streaks out of the box.  One was getting 637 at 8 pumps with 14.3 pellets. And Rick Eutsler’s review he was getting 601 with the same.  Is this typical performance for unmoded guns over the years or are there era’s that exceed this?

I think mine is getting in the 630-640 range. It needs resealed it will leak if I don’t keep it well lubed.

Steve, as a rule, I think the low 600s is about right for a stock Sheridan. Of course I'm sure you're going to get all sorts of responses with numbers higher/lower than that.

Yes, from my experience around 625 seems to be about average for a good shooting sheridan with 14.3 grain pellets.  A little less is probably still ok, but less than 600 I would consider low.  Anything over 640 I would say is pretty high.  I would be very happy with 637.

I will say that most I have owned " averaged"  around 630-650 fps. Bear in mind, that most every one of mine were made in 1950-1980. In Rick's Video, I would say that his rifle just needed a couple drops of oil.

I just made a post about my Silver, that shoots at about 670-675 fps., but it is rare to find one shooting this hard.  I also have a Blue that shoots at that speed. Neither are modified & I am shooting JSB Exacts.

I put a new piston/cup in my '67 Streak a couple of years ago.  It was shooting on the weak side.  After installing the new cup and adjustable piston, I was getting around 680 fps with 8 pumps.  For some reason it has slowed to around 650 since then.  No matter to me, still plenty of power.
