I just received a 1979 Sheridan Silver Streak S/N 272057... from Marty today. This gun has been rebuilt by Rob 112o with new Mac 1 parts.
I have only owned two Sheridan's in my lifetime. I had been given a Blue Streak in 1958 but that gun went missing while I was away in the Army.
In all the ensuing years since 1967, I have regretted loosing that rifle. With my heartfelt thank's to Marty & Rob, as of Today, this one will be the replacement for the Blue Streak that went " Missing in Action" My Best Wishes to All - Tom Wood
P.S. An Ecstatically Happy Camper Here ! ;D
The Gun.. As Marty Had It. ( His pictures are WAY Better than Mine ! )

Thank You Guys for all the Kind Replies ! I doubt if I'll be able to sleep well tonight. ( Knowing this rifle is in my gun safe) I can't actually believe I have this Rifle. I have been going back and forth to the gun safe all afternoon just to look at it. It is the Nicest Gun that I have. All the rest of my guns are very good shooters and are accurate hunting guns but THIS One is Special. This Gun Will Never see the ice & snow that my Hunting guns see. I'll take it out and shoot it on warm sunny days.. then wipe it down.. put it in a gun sock and put it away. I have reserved a Special Spot in Gun safe just for this one. My gun safe is a big one and holds 13 rifles on each side with 4 pistol shelves in the middle. My PB's are on the left side and My Ag's are on the right side. There are 3 full length shelves above the rifles and it is wide enough for a any full length rifle to fit cross ways. It will be placed on a full length shelf in the middle, all by it's self.. right out front. Once the safe is opened, this gun will be the First Gun to be seen.
THANK YOU MARTY & ROB !
My Best Wishes to All - Tom

My rifle pictured above, is a 1959 . I could not count the times it has been shot. I took good care of it, oiled it, stored it with a couple of pumps in it. It needed to be overhauled the FIRST time about 6 years ago. 53 years old at the time, so yes,,, it can last a lifetime !!

It was a tough decision to sell this ’79 Silver but selling her here on GTA made it a little easier than doing so on one of those other online sites. At least here I would have a sense of who ended up with her. I was ecstatic when Tom pm’d me & stated he wanted to purchase her. This individual is by far the most courteous & positive member (male) on here. He always has a positive & encouraging word to say to everyone. I said several times my friend & I’ll say it again; I’m glad she’s yours!

Wayne ..Thank You for your Kind and Thoughtful Reply ! This gun has been a long time in coming. The Blue Streak it replaces was an Excellent Hunter. I can't wait to take this One Hunting Too ! ( But Only on "NICE Warm Days and" in a "Buckthorn Free Forest" ! )
My Best Wishes to You Sir - Tom

Congratulations Tom. I've got a '79 Silver Streak too. Great vintage rifles indeed! 8)
Dave..Thank You for your Kind Reply ! We are both such Lucky Guy's to own these Fine Rifles ! My Best Wishes To You Sir - Tom

Andrew...Thank You for Your Kind Reply Sir ! I Most Certainly Will Be "Happy".. Shooting This Gun ! My Best Wishes to You - Tom

Marty..there is a part of the gun that will forever be Yours as well as a part that will forever be Rob's. You are both a BIG Part of it's history.
I doubt if I would have bought this gun from anyone I did not hold in High Regard.
Buying a gun from You was Better than being insured with Allstate ! ....
I Was Definatly In Good Hands ! ( The Deal Was as Solid as the Rock of Gibraltar ! )

That's real beauty Tom. Welcome to the vintage world! Don't let your love of that nice Streak blind you all the other vintage "wonders" that await under someones attic eaves.

Thank You Stuart for your Kind Reply and Words of Encouragement ! I have been to pawn shops and garage sales some but I never see much in the way of air rifles where I live. Mostly I see Fishing Tackle, Ice Fishing Gear, Whitetail Deer And Duck Hunting Equipment around here. I'll keep looking though, something may turn up. The last time I was out looking, I scored a 50,000 BTU Kerosene Torpedo Heater (Free) for my Garage, an Ice Fishing Flasher (Free) for my son and a really BIG Mosquito Zapper (Free) for my back yard. My Best Wishes to You - Tom
-
She's a beauty! That's a great score Tom, congrats! Now all you need is a 101, 102, 108, 110, 112, 140, etc, etc....it never ends brother. I find these old vintage guns sooo much more enjoyable to shoot than my modern airguns. I almost feel bad for the rack of modern springers that have dust on them when I take them down to shoot. The vintage guns tho, they may have rust/chips/and other finish blemishes, but they don't collect ANY dust (I handle them too much😬). Even my Blue that won't hold air and needs to be rebuilt, still gets shot every week.
-
Glad you finally got another 'streak, Tom.
Now, all this talk about going back and forth to the gun cabinet to look at her, here's a tip. You won't get much sleep tonight if you're going back and forth to the gun cabinet, so just tell the Mrs. to slide over a little bit and make room for the streak to lay between you. Take a flashlight to bed so you can look her over if you wake up during the night. If the Mrs. complains, tell her she can look at her too if she wants. Maybe even put another flashlight on her side of the bed for that purpose.
-
That's a beauty - I have a blue streak and looking at your silver makes we want to go shopping for one of my own. :D
-
Congrats, they're definitely great.

I guess I am not the only one who sleeps with them. There is no Mrs. here, so I can pile them up on that side !

My ’69 with the Williams is still my favorite. I looked at her for hours on end when I first got her. Would set her down, leave, come back & do it all over again. Never slept with her though although the thought did cross my mind. Wasn’t going to happen… you know how women love to talk(edit; pardon me...some women)? Didn’t need that one getting out.

Steve, Marty, YOU GUYS NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP! ;)

Hahahah! You guys are funneeeeeee! :D

Steve, Marty, YOU GUYS NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP! ;)
Already tried that...

Congrats Tom.
Don't mean to jump on your thread but I just have to tell this story...
I began my second childhood into airguns about 4 or so years ago. My brother in law came to me and asked if I could find him a Sheridan like the one he had as a boy. I posted a request here and there for the specific gun he was looking for. I got a PM from a GTA member from an older gentleman telling me about one he bought new years ago. He and his buddy shot it together for years. His eye sight began to fail to he turned it over to his buddy. He told me that his buddy's eyesight had recently also began failing and he was ready to let the old girl go to a good home. They sold me that gun at an incredible price. It wasn't quite what my B-I-L was looking for but it was close so I bought it. When it arrive I couldn't believe what I was looking at. It looked as though it had been in a time capsule since 1969. These two friends had taken care of it so well I couldn't help but to think about all the time these two guys spent together shooting the gun. I felt so humble to own it.
Betty Lou reminded me that I was put to task to find this gun for Ed (my B-I-L) and he would be coming to collect it. I told her that this wasn't the same as the gun he requested. The one he wanted was an earlier vintage and a different color. Well, when Ed showed up that didn't seem to matter. He fell instantly in love and thanked me for finding me a vintage Sheridan. I had no choice but to hand it over.
Ed lost his battle with cancer just over a year ago. Betty Lou and I made the trip to southern Alabama for the funeral and be there for my Sister who made sure that '69 Blue Streak came home with us.
It does seems silly to some of us to cherish something such as an air rifle. But, I get it.
Here's "Eddie".... He hangs above the TV across from my recliner where I often look up and think about my B-I-L Ed and the two old buddies the were the first care takers of it.
-
WOW Bill! It doesn't get much better than that! & it's obvious why you were attracted to her. A real gem!

Scott (H. Daddy) now has another of my "special finds". Again early in my recent airguns adventure I belonged to a Facebook airgun page. I had just finished a "lego" carbine build and ran into a guy that had an '83/'84 Blue Streak that his dad bought new when he was just 8 years old. His dad would pump it for him and he would shoot it. He told me the gun didn't have more than 300 shots through it when his dad passed away. The gun was put in the back of a closet and forgotten about. One day his mom found the gun and asked him if he wanted it. He told me that he just couldn't get comfortable with it and we made a deal to trade it for the "lego" carbine. Another "like new" Blue Streak with a story behind it and provenance from the day it came out of the box. I was leaning the herd and decided to let a few go. Scott was in the right place at the right time and I made him as fair of a deal as I could on it. I'll let Scott post pics if he desires.....

That's a good looking 38 year old gun ..I would love to have one from 1979 ,the year I was born.. "dang" I'm vintage :o ..I dream of a old silver streak like this ..but I can even afored parts to keep my 392 working properly :-[

Billy sure did me right with this one!

Hurt my heart to let that one go but it eased the pain knowing it was going to a good home.
And rest assured.. that one is a hammer.

It looks really nice next to my "Model F" in nearly identical condition.... ;)

Contrats Tom, great looking silver streak !!

I know what dreaming about a rifle is like..I had been thinking about another Sheridan for 51 years. I had to dip into lifetime retirement savings to buy this one. Yeah... no over the counter stuff for me..... just sayin'...... ::)
My Uncles knew how to make a mash. They would brew it all up then pour it thru a pillow sack to filter out the floaters. After that they put it away and let it ferment a while. About half of the fermented stuff then went to the still. After the distilling they would mix it back up with the other half. They called their concoction..... Squeeze. :P :P :P

Sounds like a little jailhouse hooch.

( His pictures are WAY Better than Mine ! )

What an absolute beauty!! I really like the scope and mount too! I am happy to report that I should see my own 1963 Silver Streak arrive Tuesday from Steve!! I had the same feelings you did when it comes to buying from such great people! Its reassuring knowing the guns were cared for so well and there's just something nice about the exchange between two people who truly value and love these beauties.
These are a few pics from Steve (I'll post many more)

I wish I had a sweet gunsafe like you do! These things deserve a nice display!
So is that mount special made or did they produce the silver mounts too?

( His pictures are WAY Better than Mine !

That Was Marty's Picture that he had in the Classifieds. I bought his gun Minus the Mount and Scope. Marty took a standard Mac 1 Mount and buffed it down to the Aluminum so it would look like that. Here is a Picture of that Gun as I received It. I now have a Mac 1 Mount Myself and I am waiting for MY scope to arrive.
Best Wishes - Tom

Man, those tones are gorgeous!! The wood...and the finish.. just wow. Thats pretty cool about the buffed mount! I ordered one of the old Sheridan mounts off ebay and it came with a vintage Bushnell Sportview 4x.. I also ordered a UTG 2-7 pistol scope for a scout mount option as well.

So is that mount special made or did they produce the silver mounts too?
Tom is correct. I start off with 500 grit sandpaper, followed by 1000, then 2000.
Lay the 500 grit sandpaper on a flat surface. Formica table tops work well. Run the sight with the grain (long way) until all the blue is removed. Follow up with the other two until the sanding marks are all but gone. One piece of the mount will have to be removed & done separately because it is recessed.
Move onto a power buffer. Use brown/black polishing compound. Here the polishing is done across the grain until all sanding marks are removed. Finish by polishing with the grain. In this application the mount does not need to be disassembled like above.

Thanks P.O.I..
There was another member that emailed me & said he had his Mac1 chromed like mine. I took that as a complement but explained to him how it was done. The only drawback to this method is it is easily scratched but it’s just a matter of running it through the buffer again to clean it up if need be.

Tom when I bought my Bluestreak I think the gun it's self was $63.95, when I left the gunshop I think I had about $85 dollars total into mine, that was back in 77 though :D

The Scope that I ordered for the 1979 Silver Streak has arrived. Also the Open Reflex Sight. - The Mac 1 Scope Mount - 11mm to Picitanny Rail - Mounts for my 1377 Pistol. The Open Reflex Sight and Pistol Scope will now fit both the 1377 Pistol and the 1973 Silver Streak.
I plan on using the scope on the Silver Streak the most and the Open Reflex Sight on the 1377 pistol the most but I can switch things around if I wish. Options ! ;D Best Wishes - Tom
Here are the pictures of the Silver Streak with Scope Mounted.

She looks fantastic Tom!
I’ve read a couple of your posts concerning the weather out your way. It has to be difficult waiting for it to improve. Not to rub it in but out here Spring has sprung. Mid 70’s to 80’s. There is a flip side though; I guess that’s the penalty you folks pay for plush yards & landscapes whereas we’re usually brown with patches of greenery.
Be sure to let us know how she shoots for you?
Best regards.
