Title: new Hatsan AT44S-10 Tact QuietEnergy .22 cal first impressions
Post by: otter5555 on March 19, 2018, 08:54:10 PM
got it 2 hrs ago
went over all the screws/etc. did NOT clean the bore

filled the tank to  200 bar. tank leaked BAD. emptied itself in 5 minutes or less

removed the tank, aired to 1000 psi. and found the leak to be at the brass fitting/valve end.

took it apart . blew all of it out with air. lubed all with silicone. the big o-ring is a little damaged.

aired back up to 200 bar. very slow leak.
so, i mounted the tankand scope.

i shoot only my home cast 30 gr BBT slugs in all my 22's so i loaded 10 into the clip. aired back up to 200 and shot a 5 shot group @ 25.  a perfect round hole!

adjusted the poi to dead on in 4 more shots.

moved to 50 yds. wind is gusting to 14 and variable.

5 shot group under .75". more grins

the trigger was......perfect.  got the digital gauge and avg 31 oz out of the box. breaks like glass.

aired back up to 200 bar and chronoed 5 shots w/ 30 gr slugs.  avg 810 fps.

i could not be happier if i had won the lottery.

this thing is a keeper.

i am going to town in the morning to get some new o-rings for the tank. my buddie @ the parts store has a huge selection so getting one will not be an issue.

cant wait to shoot this thing some more. i'll move to 100 when i get back from town. and then 200 if the winds stay low enough.

i am a happy hatsan owner :)

Yep. They do leak at times. Easy fixes mostly.
I have a .22 Tac also and it's a tack driver.
The .25 QE long I added the tac stock to is also a Tack Driver.

I've got 3 Hatsan's now. 2 Bullboss, and a Bullmaster. All 3 very accurate, and powerful. Hatsan is a strange bird. The quality is kinda up and down, and seems to differ on each gun. I had problems with a Hercules, and returned it for credit, Thank you Pyramyd. Had problem with trigger on Bullboss, got that worked out. Got another brand new Bullboss the other day from Midway, $499. Found 2 screws stripped out, but it is shooting fine. Maybe the Gal on the assembly line, just put a new battery in her electric screwdriver? I dunno. However, for the money, Hatsan is worth it, especially if you have the knowledge to fix the small stuff. ;)

i feel like a fool :)

why?

because i have over $2000 worth of airforce airguns and my $381 hatsan out shoots them BADLY.

the hatsan trigger is  perfect. i set it to 11 oz today.  the loading function is flawless. all 3 of my af rifles have to be double cocked 90% of the time to actually cock.  the hatsan is very ACCURATE  and is EASY to shoot accurately. my af rifles can be accurate but are very difficult to shoot accurately. almost as bad as a springer and the triggers really not so good on all 3.

i'm not bashing af rifles. i am praising hatsan rifles.

i ordered a hatsan at44 long QE  in .22 today. the tact is so great i want the longer barrel version to see if it is this accurate. price, $449.

not trying to ruffle any feathers, but for me personally, the at44 badly outshines my personal af rifles in every way.

If your .22 QE long is anything like my .25 QE long?
You'll love it!

The only rifle I regret selling was my At44 tact. I wanted more power.......bought a BT65 and  got more power. Along with an added couple of pounds . I believe with the long cylinder it ends right at the end of the barrel . Man I miss that one .

810 Fps w/ 30gr slugs?......That's gotta be about 43+ FPE, you got a winner for sure. My AT44S/.22 is a wimp compared to that!

Bullets shoot much better out of the Hatsans.
Ya just have to find one that fits.
