Over the years I have had Crosman bend over backwards to make me happy . Seems that is no longer the case ; their telling me I have to send my .177 pistol to a local repair center to get it fixed . A part ( I would call a wrist pin ) fell out of the gun and now it won't cock . No where on their schematic does it show this piece .
But whats up with the one year limited warrentee ? Since when can't I send them a gun for repairs ??
It will be a cold day in *(&^ before I ever buy another Crosman product . I am 61 years old and have shipped them several guns b4 and have always been made a happy camper .
Crosman has a 5 year warrentee on almost all their guns but this one ...hummm... wonder why ; could it be that this pistol is a P.O.S ?
-
Show these guys a pic...somebody on here will know how to fix it...good luck
-
Thanks Tenn - i will sure try to do so . I used to live in Tennessee. A dang fine State
-
If it's a springer...ect then they don't actually make the thing, and this could be why.
Btw why swear off the company based on one bad experience after so many good ones .
-
Disappointing to hear. I've never had an issue with the parts department. Besides just ordering a gun, I've never dealt with any other department such as service.
I also prefer to order parts and repair my own guns. Then again, I've never received a new one that needed repairs.
-
I would be interested in know which .177 pistol it is and what fell out.

you make a valid point ; maybe I will forgive them - but that Customer support chick hung up on me

I would be interested in know which .177 pistol it is and what fell out.
it's the .177 ca. Nitro , Model BBP77, i PAID A WHOLE 67$ FOR IT !
All I did was unscrew the 4 screws that hold the stock on , wiped down the innards with an oily cloth and found this "pin" on my lap .
I could not for the life of me figure out where it fell out from -but when I put the stock back on -it wouldn't cock . The linkage arm hits on the plastic stock .... with stock off, it go's thru cocking motion but don't compress the piston .
I went to Crosman Web site and studied the schematic thoroughly and found no such "pin".
-
It has to be a guide for the linkage. I can't get to the diagram from work. They have me blocked from such sites. I'll look when I get home.
-
Avator,
any help would be greatly appreciated . I will agree it has to be a guide for the linkage . But I think you will agree-there is no such pin on their schematic......
-
OK, I hope I can help. Can you post the diagram?
-
i PAID A WHOLE 67$ FOR IT
It would likely cost you 60% of that for any repair by the time you paid shipping. I can see why Crosman does not bother repairing them when they sell for so little.
-
Did you check part number 11 to be sure it's in place?
That's the staying roller head in the diagram.
-
Part # 11 is the closest looking to the "pin" in question - but it's firmly in place on the gun .
-
With it not cocking and link hitting the stock I am leaning towards 19 or 21... ???

Leaning 19 or 21 degrees ? Oh Geez Scott you & Jim ... must have had a hard night.
-

...19 and 21 are in place
The pin is not on the schematic;
-
I looked at the diagram last night. I can't help without the gun in hand.... sorry.
-
Look down into the grip frame, and see if there's a place for it to ride in there...
-
Looking at the EVP, part 22 the long lever, shows a hole at the mid point. See if the pin fits there. It's possible the pin has a camming action to engage the piston.

That's exactly my thought. A hole thru the linkage and a ledge on either side of the plastic stock for it to ride on.

This is it. The pin keeps the lever(22) parallel to the action while cocking.
-
I hope you fellers are right ! I will report back early next week - out of town for now .
-
No cigar- there is no hole in the linkage on this gun .
Anyone else ??
-
No place in the plastic grip,(toward the front of the gun) where it would it would lay cross ways as a support for the linkage?
I haven't had one in a while,...trying to remember.
I just looked at the schematic, and, your picture again. That is a "long" pin,by the pic.
Makes me think of the one holding your end cap on,holding the nitro piston in. :o
-
Did you by chance disassembled the trigger group, if you did might have not oriented the 3 springs that holds the sears and trigger not making the sear engage the Piston tube.

There is a space in the handle that the pin could lay crosswise in ; but iI tried that every which way and it did not solve the problem . I did not take the trigger assembly apart .
-
ALL FIXED !!
I went and bought ANOTHER gun to see if I could deduce the trouble ; and I found the "pin" has a rubber doughnut that slips over it to act as a cam . I found the "doughnut" from the orig. gun on my desk and put everything back together and now It's FIXED !!
All the Customer Rep. lady had to do was let me talk to one of their techs and the problem would have been solved right then and there on the phone ; but oh no - she's got to bust my chops and tells me the ONLY resolution is to send it to dealer for repair .......
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
-
Great news! Congrats! And now you have 2 guns! Win, Win! LOL!
-
LOL.... that's one way of doing it.
-
Yep- now I got one for each hand !
Had the pin been included in their schematic it would have been an EASY fix as well
-
Well, look at it this way..
For the cost of a second gun you have become THE source of invaluable information for future reference to our GTA members.
Congratulations on your graduation to Guru-ness.

Guru MIKELMIS ! ...when can we start the yearly pilgrimages to your place ? :o :o ::) ::) ;D ;D
-
Come one , come all !
I even got a wee bit longer screw to make it a hair trigger and adjusted the thing-a-ma-jig on the side of the forward end of the barrel to almost eliminate blowby.
Sometimes life is good ;)
-
Both Crosman and Gamo customer service are going down. It cost money to be good.
-
It’s that new 5 year warranty! If customer service declines, people are less apt to use it!!! 😜

OK... every once and a while I come across like a Jerk, and I have been biting my tongue to not say what I have been thinking because of that reason.
So please take this as a constructive comment and not being a wise guy just to be argumentative.
While I understand your frustration with Crosman and their lack of Technical Support, and their Exploded Diagram lacking what you were looking for...
You took a gun apart and could not figure out how to put it back together. That is not their fault.
I was an Automotive Technician for 2 decades and if someone brought me a bolt and said "Where does this go? I took it apart and had this left over, now it wont run." I would be probably be stumped without having the car in front of me. ESPECIALLY if some Design Engineer didn't put it in the exploded diagram.
How could the Tech Support person help you under those circumstances they were dealt?
There has to be a certain amount of responsibility / accountability for you to admit that you disassembled it, you should know where the pieces came from. Also you did not notice a left over "rubber doughnut" part on your bench.
If you used terminology with them like "the thing-a-ma-jig on the side of the forward end of the barrel" any one would have a rough time helping you over the phone.
Heck some of the best airgun minds in the world are here and they could not help you either.
I am guilty of the "tiny spring and ball" syndrome most 13XX and 22XX owners are familiar with. I didn't blame Crosman. Difference is people here could help me.
Glad you go it fixed and all ended well.
Some people would have TWO mystery pins now. ;D

The one for his gun did not show the pin he had left over.
That was his biggest issue.
-
oh man - now I got my chops busted good -here on these boards -by my own brothers.
I just got a private message from one of you telling me to return the gun back to Crosman and they would send me a new one !? Don't we read the entire thread b4 bashing the author ?
I did not take the gun apart ; i took the 4 screws out that hold the plastic stock on to the barrel . If you call that "taking the gun apart" then your a better man then I.
My desk is a mess , I suppose your going to whack me for that and scold me for not being neater . The pin and doughnut are just laying in a slot in the plastic handle...with the plastic handle removed ,turn the stock upside down and they just fall out . I used the term "thing a majig tounge in cheek"- I was full of glee at having the gun functional again . I never used such language with them over the phone .
With all due respect - get off your high horse and cut the judgemental B.S . It is unwarranted and unappreciated .

I included a link to the exploded schematic at Crosmans Website earlier in this thread ...perhaps you to should read the whole post before commenting .

I knew it would come out wrong. Please accept my apology.
Should have kept to myself.
Again I was not trying to be a jerk.
I have been on this thread since the beginning and am truly glad you got it figured out.

Geez. He was offering some help- even if you posted a link that was still uncalled for.
-
The pin does fit into the stock and provides the pivot point for cocking - a lesson learned the hard way.
