So, I have a W.A.R Flex 357 Cal with 24 inch barrel. The Flex comes with a tensioned barrel. At the end of my 24 inch barrel is the DonnyFL Emperor moderator. The DonnyFL moderator works great, but due to its weight hanging off the end of my 24 inch tensioned barrel, i believe it is resulting in barrel droop, if ever so slightly, hence clipping the top of the end cap of the moderator. Bear in mind also that the 357 Flex does kick more when fired and I think the barrel and moderator end is flexing when shot during recoil.
Accuracy is great with 357 Polymags, but with JSBs, the clipping is more pronounced. I can see that the top end of the end cap is where the pellet is rubbing/clipping - hence i think barrel droop is an issue here.
Should I support the barrel with some kind of barrel band/support, or leave as it is? Thoughts?

It’s lack of allignment of your moderator that is causing the problem. If the moderator is aligned right your barrel can be in a u shape and it still won’t clip it. A tensioned barrel shouldn’t have much flex to it either.

Hi Rich,
That is a good point. Guess I will send it in for proper alignment.
Thanks.

I believe that I am having the same problem with an Emperor on my Hatsan Hercules .357 ...
I was thinking about moving the Emperor over to my Extreme Big Bore .308 but I need a new threaded adapter made for it.

Sorry to hear you are having clipping issues Frank. I am using Jims new 1/2 x 20 adapter on my warp with the DonnyFL Koi and it is aligned perfectly.
I would try taking tension off the barrel and re tension it to see if it straightens up. Another thing that may help is adding a thin shim behind the ldc so it will tighten up sooner and might change the alignment enough to make it work.
That emperor is so dang long that it probably doesn't need to be off much to clip the end... :-[

You could try a washer(shim) .025" thick, if I did my math right that should make it tighten up 1/2 turn sooner(180 degrees) and see if that changes your misalignment

Hi Justin,
Jim offered to take a look at it for me, so I will probably send it in to him.
It’s just that the Emperor is so long and heavy, as you said. But it works so well that it makes my 130fpe Flex actually backyard friendly.....
I do love this combination, it is so deadly accurate with the 357 Polymags.

Thanks Jack. I will try that before sending it out to Jim.

also make sure the nut on the moderator is tight, I have had the nut on the threaded end of the LDC become loose when I installed my Sumo
